Question about Microwave Ovens

Is there any way I might be able to fix my microwave's lack of power problem?

I've checked by plugging in to another power source, but still not power.

If there's no power at all then check the door switch first, it's the LEAST expensive part to replace that causes no power. If it's anything else buy a new one for about $40.00 to $100.00.

SOURCE: Microwave won't heat for first minute - starts working normally after that.

The magnetron may be defective. You can replace the magnetron, there is no other possibility.

Light bulb

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you

If your microwave light bulb is not working, perhaps it has blown. The first step is to replace the bulb and power on the microwave. If this does not correct the issue, the next step is to check the socket and wiring to verify if that is the problem.

  • Light bulb socket & main control boardIf your microwave light bulb is not working after the installation of a new bulb, check the light socket as well as the wiring to ensure they are properly operating. If these sources are functioning properly, the next step is to check for a faulty control board as a possible root cause to your microwave light bulb malfunction

Sharp Carousel Microwave Mdl 1875 for our RV is dead

    >> We also tried plugging our toaster into the microwave plug outlet, and the toaster wouldn't work in that outlet, but worked just fine in a different outlet in the RV.

This means the outlet you plug your microwave into needs to be fixed in addition to fixing the oven. Breaker? Fuse?

    >> I understand from another RV forum that microwave ovens for RVs have "special circuitry and cooling features" not found in regular countertop ovens for household use.

Not really in my experience. Any microwave supplied with clean AC power and proper venting space will be fine.

But I'd bet your microwave can be fixed affordably.

The main internal things which can result in this model being dead (no display, no light when you open the door, no beep when you press a pad on the keypad) would be the 20A fuse and the magnetron temperature fuse. There could also be bad connections on the noise filter board.

Also, sometimes a power surge can cause the power to be interrupted to the low voltage transformer on the board, and I regularly repair those boards. I can also write a technical statement to your insurance company or to an RV park as needed.

At my Web site, I have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

The relevant service manuals for this model are here and here.

You can order Sharp parts from Sears or Encompass.

WHEN PLUGGED IN THERE IS NO POWER, TOOK IT APART AND REPLACED THE 30 AMP FUSE BUT NO FIX, THE OUTLET IS LIVE

Assuming you have a voltmeter (or multimeter) at your disposal, you will have to trace the power from the plug to the timer / control board. If the thermal cutout has activated/failed, you will also get a 'dead' appliance. It's mounted directly on the magnetron.

Loud popping noise after being plugged into 50 amp power source possible power surge unit in rv unit light still works but no power to make unit work.

What happens a lot in these RV microwaves is that a surge will damage the circuit board and sometimes also blow the low voltage transformer.

These are problems we can usually take care of for $39.95 and $54.95 respectively.

I have a built-in AEG Microwave code MC166(0E?) My son unfortunately used the microwave as a timer so it was on for 30mins without anything in it. It now won't turn "on"; no light/clock...

What fuse did you change? The fuse on the wiring that leads to the microwave needs to be intact, then the fuse in the Microwave itself needs to be checked. Usually there is a plug where the microwave is plugged in, in the cabinet above the microwave, you can take another small appliance or a power tester to make sure power is available in the outlet where the microwave is plugged in. If the power is on at the outlet then you'll know that it is the microwave itself that has turned itself off for some reason. You can get manuals for these ovens at this website

MICROWAVE GE JVM1750M1SS - NO POWER - CIRCUIT BREAKER AND POWER SOURCE ARE OKAY - WHAT CAN WE TROUBLESHOOT - HAVE LOCATED ONE FUSE BEHIND VENT RIGHT SIDE

Check your fuse for continuity, if its good check the continuity of the wires in the cord, as they usually break at or near the plug. Use a multimeter to check the wires, and fuse. If they are good then there may be a problem with the control panel itself. Probably not economical to fix, as microwaves are almost cheaper to buy new nowadays.

    Problem with electrical source

Does your manuel also tell you to use a DEDICATED 20amp circuit to plug your Microwave in to? More that likely you used a 15 amp circuit that other appliances were also plugged into. A refrigerator or other cooling item needs its own 15 amp circuit but can tolerate small amp draw items like a clock. The new, higher wattage microwaves need a 20 amp circuit for itself. Have your line checked , have your microwave fixed. Start new
