Does the ice bin have any ice in it? If not has the ice maker arm been raised up to the stop position? If so lower it, this will start the ice maker again, and after several hours the ice bin will have enough ice to be dispensed from the door.

SOURCE: ice won't dispense, no power to water light

I would check hte wire harness leadngto the door under hte freezer hinge. itll be wrapped in a black web like covering. Just under hte unit itself follow ht ewire and unplug hte harness. then carfully cut hte black webbing and inspect wires. there tends ot be apinch point there and the wires will sheer from one another, . if so there is no replcing hte harness, the door would have to be replaced at a cost of nealry $600. not enough room for a wire nut, but hav had sucess using stright inline bullet style connector, or others have sucessfully soldered connections back in place

SOURCE: Ice and Water not dispensing. Light button not working

INSIDE THE DISPENSER ASSEMBLY IS A SEPARATE ELECTRONIC BOARD THAT CONTROLS THE DISPENSER.
OCCASIONALLY, THE DOOR SOLENOID OR THE CUBE ICE SOLENOID WILL SHORT OUT CAUSING A BURNOUT OF THE DISPENSER CONTROL BOARD. CHECK FOR A BURNT SMELL COMING FROM THE DISPENSER HOUSING. IF YOU SMELL IT, THE BOARD AND/OR SOLENOID NEED TO BE REPLACED.

SOURCE: No water thru door

OK guys, GE does have a solution to this problem and it's EXPENSIVE. I goofed and called GE repair. $263 later it was fixed. Here's what I've done to villify them:

General Electric Company March 31, 2008
3135 Easton Turnpike
Fairfield, CT 06828-0001 Attn: J. Immelt Dear sir or madam, or whoever opens this because I know Jeff Immelt won't be the actual person to open it. This has already been sent to GE Corporation Appliance Park 6, Room 129 Louisville, KY. 40224 so don't send it to them. Send it to someone who may actually do something about this problem. I have a GE refrigerator, Model GSS25WGPAWW, S# AF 217252 which has had a continuing problem for several years. My first error was in not reporting this sooner. My home is in a gated community in which the developer used GE appliances exclusively. What I have determined now (after I paid for the repair) is that many residents have had the exact same problem: the in-door water dispenser freezes solid. The second mistake I made was calling GE repair to fix the problem. I was charged a total of $ 263.15 for the repair; $ 63.30 for the part, a flat rate of $79.95 for the repairman to show up and then $105.00 labor cost plus tax. Our community has an Internet based communications system ( Googlelist) and I posted the following message there. . My fellow residents responded that GE did fix many of the same problems at no charge after they call GE Customer Care rather than GE repair. Several others have paid for the repair. I then reported this to your sales http://www.geappliances.com/service_and_support/contact/form_service.htm) department up until the 25th of March , I have received no reply. ____________________________________________________________________________ TO:http://www.geappliances.com/service_and_support/contact/form_service.htm Just thought you'd like to know: I live in a gated community with over 1400 residents and they all got the following message: Posted on Googlelist-at Herons Glen So my water line to the in-door dispenser kept freezing up. I'd have to turn the fridge off and open the freezer door for up to 5 hours for it to melt. Then 3 or 4 days later it would freeze again. So the GE repair guy came and installed a $63 part in about 20 minutes. It was a heat tape applied inside the dispenser cover. Now for the fun part: $79 just to show up and then $105 "labor" ??? That's about $315 per hour - my kind of job. Oh yea, another $14.90 in taxes. Once I had the part number, I found the part on-line for $42. Forget about it really being a manufacturing defect that should be covered by warrantee. GE does not care! They advertise how "energy conscious" they are and then solve a defect with a heat tape that adds heat to an appliance that's supposed to be cold! Go figure! If this offends any ex-GE employees....GOOD _____________________________________________________________________________________ When I subsequently called GE customer Care on March 25th I was told "we have no recalls on that model and there is nothing we can do". I've gone on-line and searched for "GE water dispenser" problems and, WOW, you've got lots of problems. On March 26 I got a reply from From: answerctr@exchange.appl.ge.com They gave me a Tracking Number and another phone number to call 1-888-348-7563. I called that number on 3-27-08 and got the same answer: "we have no recalls on that model, have a nice day". My question is: Will GE do something about this? I have $ 263.15 out of pocket cost, a copy of the repair bill is enclosed, for what appears to be a design flaw and that flaw has been repaired for others "at no cost". Sincerely, Tom Morookian 20729 Mystic Way No. Ft. Myers, FL 33917 239-731-3452 Tommorookian@aol.com encl: (1)

The real problem is that the water line is supposed to be installed against the front panel of the freezer door. During assembly they don't do this so some of the lines are against the inside edge of the door, they then "foam" the door and they freeze. The heat tape does fix the problem and you can do it yourself. I'm "GEsucks" for a real good reason. I've posted this on several web-sites and I'm looking for a lawyer to file a class action suit!

SOURCE: whirlpool icemaker stopped working

My icemaker has not worked for years. It has been so long I got used to not having ice. I have more time this month and decided to figure out the problem. I replaced the old water supply from copper tube to a 10 ft. stainless steel flexible tube from HomeDepot. This did not do anything. I saw somwewhere about using a blow dryer to the tube that dispense water into the ice tray. IT WORKED. My wife is happy.

My ice maker is making ice, but it won't come out of the door. It gets stuck outside of the icemaker in the door. There is a flap that doesn't seem to be opening.

The units I have seen which have a flap, if water gets in from some drippage, it can freeze and make things get stuck. You might try some hot water on a small towel against the outside of the flap to see if that would melt any ice accumulation, or if you put a small pan under the flap hole on the outside to catch runoff and dribble a bit of hot water from the inside hole down spout to melt any ice that might free it up if that is causing it to stick.

You also might be able to fish out the ice from the inside and give flap a push to open it, or use a plastic spoon or spatula to push it through. While you might be tempted to melt the ice with a hair dryer, don't do that. It could be very dangerous if water suddenly spewed out and got into the heating element or motor and cause a fire or electric shock. Stick to not water and plastic to try and push it from the inside outward. Usually the mechanism to grind the ice is up above inside the freezer, not in the hole in the door.

If the door got stuck because its hinges came loose broke you might have to call a service center to come and replace it if you are unable to yourself.

Be careful and don't try anything if you are unsure of yourself.

\how di I remove the ice maker on a RF226

2 screws at the front of Ice maker they are screwed to ceiling of freezer. remove and then pull IM to you. try the test button under the motor of the IM before you replace. just push it and wait. should start to cycle in a few seconds. if it cycles and fills with water your ok. then give about 2 hours to see if it dumps ice. make sure your freezer temp is set to -1 or your IM may not cycle. that is a samsung thing.

My freezer is not making ice and the water only drips out of the water side

There could be a couple dif problems. If the temp in the freezer is not below 6 degrees the thermistat in the ice maker will not call for water. The selinoid in the water inlet valve for the freezer may be bad. The ice maker itself may be bad.

To test the inlet valve switch the hoses and see if it calls for water when you call for water in the door. To do this you will need a 1/4 inch nut driver. Remove the panel in the back of the fridge on the outside. Push the connector inwards and pull the hose out. Most inlet valves you can do this with. Switch the hoses and push the water through the door button . If you cant do this you have 2 choices. Either call a technician to test the inlet valve or take a gamble and replace and hope this works.

If the inlet valve is good and the freezer temp is below 6 degrees replace the ice maker.

You have a problem with the control board program. If the ice making button is turned off, the ice maker should stop working completely but it sounds like it's wanting to make ice.

Ice maker water not coming out of the outside , no water supply to the ice maker

Your water line could be frozen in the door. You can disconnect the line under the unit before it goes into the door at the bottom hinge. Push the dispenser button and see if it comes out there. If it does leave the door open till it thaws. Covering the opening with a blanket will prevent the loss of cold in the freezer.

Your Ice maker may be the cause. if it is not holding water the water may be landing on the bottom and freezing, causing the ice build up and obstructing the air transfer from the freezer to the refrigerator. You can remove or replace your Ice maker. Then you will have to defrost your freezer to get everything back to normal.

If not your door switch is bad and needs to be replaced it controlls the power to the bulb and the ice maker motor. You can pop the door switch out with a flatblade screw driver but have a replacement on hand wire plug into the back of it the switch is an on off switch.
