Hi, Help!! I have a +6 year old HP officejet 6110 all-in-one. I have auto-reply on, I hear tones both sending and receiving but nothing happens: I get message 'no reply' when sending and my line sounds busy at the sending fax when my fax is trying to receiving (I know the other fax I am testing against is working fine), I have switched off ECM, checked the phone line. I cannot adjust transmission speed on this model - is there any other ideas or any buttons combination I can push to fix this? Brgds Jenny
SOURCE: Fax does not receive or send
plz contact brother hotline of your country ( www.brother.com )because there are so many diffrent telephone standards which might affect a good working of the fax abillity.
SOURCE: No dial tone detected
It may be a bad modem on the copier. Plug your phone into the auxillary phone port on the copier and see if you get a dial tone. Also make sure that your cord from the wall is plugged into the line port and not the phone port.
SOURCE: cannot send or receive faxes
How to dial *xx codes when faxing
When sending a fax, it may be necessary to enter in a *xx code as the first part of the number. Follow the steps below to dial *99 when using a VoIP service.
NOTE:
Since the *xx code is an instruction to the phone system, this must be dialed live.
What can be done to help the fax transmission?
The communication speed is a major factor in fax transmission over VoIP. Currently there are three speed standards.
Changing the Fax Speed Adjustment setting to Medium may improve your ability to send a fax over a VoIP network. On most HP fax products the connection speed can be set to a lower speed. Those that do not have a Fax Speed setting generally communicate at medium speed or lower as this was the past standard. Consult your user's manual for information specific to your model.
Changing the Fax Speed Adjustment to a lower speed
Follow the steps below.

SOURCE: HP Officejet 6310 will no longer receive a fax, but can send one
Have you checked the online support guides to make sure your fax is connected properly. There is a lot to work through, but you should be able to test your setup and see if you can send faxes but not receive them. See links here, here, and here. Treat the credit card machine as if it were a telephone answering device or another phone on the line.
I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
