Depending on the make model and year, it could be a lean fuel mixture or low fuel pressure. Could also be a throttle sensor or something in the ignition.
To set the throttle, start by slackening the cross head screw securing the cable in the handle and pull completly out, now slacked the three allen headed screws securing the handle, twist the handle to the best position for your use ( at full throttle your thumb should not be straining ) now slacken the lower cross head screw and turn the silver clamp to tention the spring underneath, when correctly adjusted the throttle trigger should spring back to the idle position readily, now re fit the cable up through the clamp, turn the cable so as it is just about to open the carb throttle spindle, lock the cross head screw and test to make sure you are getting full throttle, if not slacken the screw and turn cable a little more.
indicates a fuel problem
wide open throttle and back firing indicates low float level or fuel flow problems
check for tank vent is working as it could be a vacuum forming in the tank preventing full fuel flow
check for a full fuel flow to the carby
indicates a low fuel level possibly float level
check that there is a heat insulation block between the head and the carby
maybe head heat is tending to boil off the carby fuel if too low a level
Did you rejet the carburator when you did all the mods to the bike? If not, it is probably running to lean and you need a bigger main jet to get it running correctly. Unless you have a fuel mixture screw that you could adjust to make it a richer mix.
Check throttle cable at carb and make sure you have full travel. Sounds like rpm is little to low. Throttle cables are usually held in place with 1 screw and a washer. Put cable at full throttle loosen screwand pull back until throttle at carb in at full then tighten screw.
you must have the throttle at full at all times when under load driving and mowing, back fire is do to much fuel. if your running throttle at full than look at the carburetor and then the wiring (short)
