Put another Operating System in it. When asked if you wish to save 4439MB of previous files, click on yes.

(4439MegaByte is an approximate figure. Just threw that out there. It will be somewhere in there, though. 4439MB = 4.439GB)

So what's going on?
You have Windows XP and Windows 7 now?
Have a dual boot system set up, or what?

Post back in a Comment.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I install windows 7 on my IBM thinkpad r51... now I want install Windows XP .. but Xp could not be installed .... What I do.....? thanks in advance

Have you delete your partition and format it?. Or maybe the installer that you have is not working try to use other CD installer for XP and re-run the whole process, But be sure to delete the partiotion in which you are going to install the windows. If you have an old partition then you have your files intact on the partition, DO NOT include deleting that partition, just the system partition on your drive. Hope it helps thanks.

Sir, i have hp mini 210-1000 laptop without cd/dvd. while installing windows xp i have deleted the partitions & tried to install xp from usb but failed. please help me to install windows xp .

Check the BIOS to see if you can make the USB as the first boot device, if you can then you will be able to install XP from the USB flash memory stick.
The reason why your XP installation failed is because in most older laptops, the USB port does not work until Windows XP has been installed.
Your hard disk may have an Windows XP install partition that you can access to reinstall Windows, provided you have not deleted this partition.

I reformat my gateway netbook from xp to windows 7 starter... but when I restart it shows an option of windows xp and windows 7. I need to choose windows 7 before the windows start....pls help i dont know...

that happens because you didn't delete your original install of xp. basically you are dual booting operating systems. the best way to recitify this is to reinstall wndows seven and do whats called a destructive install. You should be prompted as to whether or not you want to do an upgrade or a custom install. choose custom and install. this should completely remove xp from the system. if you need any existing data from xp be sure to save it prior.

How to delete windows from a laptop

You can't delete your system unless you are installing a new OS. If you are trying to do that, you need a disk with OS installation on it, insert it, restart your computer, go into BIOS and under BOOT SETTINGS choose your cd-dvd rom for the first boot device. Press F10, and then YES
After rebooting, your computer will start a boot from the ****. Afterwords, just follow the instructions, and that's it.

Hopefully your other OS's are on a different drive letter (d: or e: for example). As long as they are then there is no conflict with XP.

You could effectively remove access to them by editing c:\BOOT.INI . Note that you will have to right click boot.ini, select "properties" and remove the "read only" and "hidden" properties for the file before editing it. I would recommend making a copy of the boot.ini first for a backup.

Then just open it with notepad. There will be one line for each OS in there. just delete the extra lines. Then you can just erase or format the partitions for the other OS's.
