Go to "Start" > "Restart" to reboot your netbook. Hold down "Alt" and "F10" when you see the Acer logo on the screen. The recovery menu will load. Hit "Enter" and then "Next" to see your recovery options. Choose "Factory Restore" to set your netbook back to factory settings. Follow the instructions on the screen. Choose your time zone and language when the customization menu appears. Reboot the netbook when you are prompted. Restore your saved files from the flash drive. or Click on the Start menu. Then, select all programs, Acer Empowering Technology and Acer eRecovery Management. If this is the first time you have opened the program it will prompt you to set up a password and create a backup CD. Click the Restore button and select the option that reads "Restore system to factory defaults". Wait for the computer to finish the restore process and reboot. Restoring for the Boot Screen If your computer will not boot up properly, you can attempt to reach the restore option by pressing the Alt button and the F10 button at the same time. Acer sent me these instructions.
The other way before Vista starts up is to tap ALT + F10 (at the same time repeatedly) when the computer is first switched on.. The window of opportunity is very small, so this may take a few attempts
Once you have tapped both the ALT and F10 repeatedly, you may see a screen showing:
“Edit Boot options for Microsoft Windows Vista”
If you see this, unfortunately, you have missed the window of opportunity, and you need to restart, and try again.
If you see this:
“Edit Boot options for Windows Setup” OR “Edit Boot options for Acer eRecovery”
Then it indicates that you have tapped the ALT + F10 correctly, and all you now need to do is press “Enter” and the Recovery program should load on your screen after a short pause..
In some cases, you may need to remove the battery (for notebooks only) and run the machine directly from the mains.
The Disk2Disk recovery feature allows you to recover the system without recovery CDs.
This will return your system to factory settings and will delete everything stored on the machine.
If possible we strongly advise backing up anything important on your machine before starting the recovery process.

Follow these instructions carefully:
To start the recovery process:
1. Restart the system.
2. While the Acer logo is showing, press <Alt> + <F10> at the same time to
enter the recovery process.
3. Refer to the onscreen instructions to perform system recovery.
I copied the above from an Acer manual, and it works on my own system, which is not the same model as yours. But you must understand that this will basically restore your computer to the condition in which it was when you bought it, unpacked it from the box, and followed the instructions to set up a new computer.
This will give you your system back as if it were brandy new, but in most cases, anything you created, like DOCs, or XLS files, again … ANYthing you created since buying this computer, will also probably not be there any more.
You will have a pristine, clean as new, computer system.
Be careful, be absolutely sure this is what you want to do, and go ahead and do it.

SOURCE: Need to bring computer back
Hi and welcome to FixYa!
This is an easy fix! To wipe it clean and make it run like new, while your computer is starting up, press Alt+F10 repeatedly. It will go to factory restore screen, which will ask you to confirm if you wish to completely restore it. Please be advised that if the computer goes to normal start up again, you must turn computer off and restart process as soon as it is starting up. I have done this to several Acers myself and it took me a few tries when i was 'new' to these steps. Also, please save any files or pics in email or upload them to a site if you wish to keep them. This will remove everything you have saved on your computer!
Please rate this solution if it was helpful!
