Yes.Your fan should not have pull chains if it came with a remote.

SOURCE: Hunter fan/light with remote installed turns on by itself

Many times this is caused by stray frequencies in the neighborhood. And, sometimes changing the frequencies on the remote and receiver reduce the occurrence.

But it sounds like this may not be the case, here. If not, the receiver in the fan is the culprit and should be replaced. No danger, just annoying.

SOURCE: HUNTER ceiling fan remote works with fan but not light

Unfortunately, you either have a faulty reciever or remote. A replacement will cost $30-$40 at homedepot2.gif. And it doesn't matter which is faulty because you can't purchase them seperately anyhow.

Reciever is located at electrical connection in ceiling. Just buy a new universal wireless remote and reciever at any home depot. if dont fill safe doing this task should call an electician to do job or someone with electrical skills.

Casa Vieja ceiling fan w/remote; worked well. Then wall switch was turned on/off, chains pulled. Everything working: fan high, med and low, and light on/off/dim - except now fan won't turn off !

The chain pulling and switch flipping causes the simple logic in the remote receiver to become confused. Your only hope for restoring normal operation (short of replacement) is to disconnect power at the source, then remove remote battery and press all buttons to eliminate "stuck button" problem. Reconnect power and test operation using only the remote. If normal, you will have to decide whether to disable pull chains, wall switches, or both. If not normal, you will have to try an infinite number of combinations of pull chains, wall switches, and power on-off to get things back to normal.

Hunter fan works light broken

Check to make sure light wires are connected at light kit & remote. Otherwise it's probably a bad receiver. If there is a pull chain for the light pull it once & try the remote light button again.

I have a hunter fan model 20754 i need to know how i can control the light and fan separately with a two wire switch

there should be a pull chain somewhere that you can turn off the light with. There is no way except a remote unit that a 2 wire switch can control 2 different functions(fan & light)

Why won't my remote for my light on the Hunter fan work? The light also will not come on when I pull the chain.

I usually discuss this exact problem with customers that have a DIY ceiling fan. First; If you just installed this fan you noticed that there are several switches on the fan and on the remote, there is also the switch that originally controlled the ceiling light fixture (If it is a dimmer switch, it MUST be replaced with a single pull switch). All of these can be set wrong. Make sure the circuit breaker is not "tripped."
To start easy; assure that the wall switch is on, (leave all the "pull chains" alone, for now) Check to see that the remote has fresh batteries. press the light switch (on the remote, if it is a dimmer type set it to high, press it several times. If this does not work leave all the switches where they are and pull the light chain once, and again try the remote for the lights only. Hopefully that worked. Now do the same for the fan, press the remote once (on any speed) If that does not work pull the fan chain once try the remote again pressing the same switch, that should work. Now that you have it working remove all the pull chains, so it won't get "confused" again. Good luck!

The remote controls the fan speed but wont dim or control the light. the unit wont work if the light switch is off so I cant use the fan at all unless the light is turned on

mcdevito75 here, Generally the Ceiling fan motor is hooked up by-passing the wall switch but still to the hot laed going to the wall switch whlie the lights are hooked up to the hot lead after the wall switch, So without the remote, Manually operate your fan and lights. First with the wall switch off the fan should work and the lights no work. Now turn the fan off with the pull chain on the fan shroud close to the ceiling. Now turn wall switch on and lights should work with wall switch and the fan should also work. if so, re-program the remote or change the batteries or even re--place the remote.

Hunter fan will not operate

Hello

Did somebody pull one of the chains hanging from the fan to the off position? Could be a bad switch connected to the chain? Bad motor? Bad switch on wall? Take fan down and make sure there is power coming into the fan and at the switch.

Fan with remote won't work with wall switch. I

I just recently purchased a hunter ceiling fan w/light and remote. Had it installed and wall switch would not work, only remote. I contacted Hunter company directly about this problem and I was told that they redesigned their fans with remotes so that only the remote works for turning off power to fan. The person who made that made that BRILLIANT change should be fired. So to those of you who own a newer hunter an product with a remote ne your wall switch will not work tat s te reason why.

Fan with light (no remote) with wall switch not a 3-way

Unless you want to use pull chains, you will either have to get a different fan with a remote, or you can buy a remote to ADD to an existing fan/light. It hooks up under the base of the lamp. They seem to work better than the factory fans with the built in remotes.
