Question about As Seen On TV Clapper Plus

1 Answer

Clapper goes off every few minutes with no stimulus to do so

I clap the thing on (it's set on "away" as the other setting is less sensitive) and just a few minutes later---3 to 5 minutes?---the thing goes off by itself! Also, will not clap off at all! :>(

I'd like to try to help. I know nothing about this though. So if it is a monitor (like a baby one) it could get interference from something else like baby monitors and r/c cars do. If not it could be a wire in it. Hopefully I could help a little if not sorry. Best of luck.

While in the Away setting, the clapper will turn on when it detects any noise over a specific threshold. After ten minutes of inactivity, it will turn off. This setting is meant as way turn on the lights as soon as you walk in the door or to startle might be intruders. If you slide the switch to Lo or Hi mode, the clapper will respond to your claps or any loud noises that sound similar. Hi is high sensitivity, for quieter rooms; Lo is low sensitivity, for louder areas.

I plugged a heating system into my clapper and now it is not working. The lights on the clapper don't go on when I clap. I think it glitches out but don't know how to fix it and now I'm really upset. What...

Clappers are only designed to manage less than 500 watts. Heaters are typically much more...greater than 900 watts. You likely burned it out and will need to send it in for replacement. good luck

The cursor jumps around when I'm typing -- for example when I'm typing, it will just click itself up a few lines and start typing in the middle of another word

The touch pad can cause this problem. Go to control panel to make it less sensitive. I often drag a finger by accident over the pad and away goes the cursor. It is a major grump of mine also.

This web site shows the details, if you need them, to adjust the touch pad. http://www.ehow.com/how_2292964_adjust-vista-laptop-touchpad-settings.html

I do this for fun, so 4 thumbs if it answers your question.

Very sensitive set up.There are special tools needed that make things much easier on the 3.0 liter. If you miss time it you can bend valves & due major damage to valves & heads.Best advise I can give from afar is get yourself a good haynes manual. They are not bad if you have done a few of them & have the special tools.hope this helps

Clapper plus

Sliding the switch down to the HOME (LO) position will put the Clapper Plus into the low sensitivity mode. This is helpful if there is a lot of external noise in the room. By placing the switch in the HOME (HI) position it will put the Clapper Plus into the high sensitivity mode for quiet clappers or if you are far away from the Clapper. In the AWAY mode appliances will turn on with the detection of any sound but will only stay on for 10 minutes.

This sounds classic to a thermo problem where a part(s) are becoming thermo sensitive with aga and use. When the set is cold and then warmed up, the defective part(s) is changing characteristics.

Some components became thermo sensitive that are driving the display. Or an embeded component in the display itself became thermo sensitive. It is very possible that the fault is on the board that does the X - Y addressing or on the backplane electronics of the display screen itself.

Using the set with defective components is a bad idea. If the part(s) fail completely and go shorted or opened, other more costly damage can be done.

The service rep for the manufacture of your set is equiped and trained to be able to troubleshoot and service your set.

You will have to take the set in to have it serviced.
