Question about As Seen On TV Clapper Plus

Clapper goes off every few minutes with no stimulus to do so

I clap the thing on (it's set on "away" as the other setting is less sensitive) and just a few minutes later---3 to 5 minutes?---the thing goes off by itself! Also, will not clap off at all! :>(

I'd like to try to help. I know nothing about this though. So if it is a monitor (like a baby one) it could get interference from something else like baby monitors and r/c cars do. If not it could be a wire in it. Hopefully I could help a little if not sorry. Best of luck.

While in the Away setting, the clapper will turn on when it detects any noise over a specific threshold. After ten minutes of inactivity, it will turn off. This setting is meant as way turn on the lights as soon as you walk in the door or to startle might be intruders. If you slide the switch to Lo or Hi mode, the clapper will respond to your claps or any loud noises that sound similar. Hi is high sensitivity, for quieter rooms; Lo is low sensitivity, for louder areas.

Why does my toyota hilux d4d 2008 have a hard "clap" sound when chaning gears, releasing the clutch?

hard to be sure with out hearing the noise, two things I have come across in the work shop . Loose or broken engine mount. Or broken springs in the clutch driven plate. a worn throw out bearing can make a noise when the clutch is in use.

When LED lights are plugged in and the clapper is off - some of the lights still glow - not as bright as when on, but still appears as if power is seeping to them (just a little). Help - really wanted to...

There's nothing wrong with your Clapper. LED's have very low current draw - under that which is required by the Clapper to function. You can add a small nightlight to your lights which will up the draw for the Clapper to work properly.

My Clapper Plus works fine, except that when it is off, some current still leaks through. I have Christmas tree lights plugged into it. When the Clapper Plus is off, the lights are dim, but are still on.

Hi,

You obviously have a faulty Clapper. They are supposed to work just like a switch...ON or OFF. If you are getting dim lights, it is bad. Take it back where you got it or call the company.

Thanks for using Fixya.

The charger connection is sensitive on the Reflex Pro. It isn't uncommon to plug in the charger, see the light flashing, then when setting it down a slight movement of the cable stops the charging (light will stop flashing). Try connecting the charger again (if you haven't already) and let it charge for about an hour. While getting a good charge can be frustrating, it is worth it for the 4 minutes of fun to follow :-\

Vsmile keeps turning off

Here's the solution to your V smile: Oxidized connectors! Remeber the original Nintendo back in the 80s? You had to repeatedly reinsert the cartridge so that it would work properly. The V smile has the same problem. They use tin plated copper contacts on the game cartridges as well as the internal connector. All newer electronics use gold plated contacts because gold does not oxidize (rust, corrode). You'll need a very fine sheet of sandpaper. Start by lightly sanding the game cartridge connector (you have to expose the contacts by pushing the plastic part in). Make sure you wipe the contacts clean with a rag, and do not touch the contacts with your fingers! Then you have to do the same with the console's internal connector. The danger here is bending one of the pins inside so be very careful. The real solution to this would be to replace the connector but no one sells it (checked ebay, Vtech). Should last a couple of months to a few years, depending on relative humidity and use. If your V smile turns on normally without a game cartridge, then this is your problem. Symptoms vary from no power to corrupted graphics to no sound as well as random turn off (with a cartridge, no problems without a cartridge). I've done a few lately and all are working like new. Let me know how it goes, but I take no responsability for bent pins, damaged connectors, fire, earthquake,...

Does not work

open it up. Insert an ear plug into the hole for the Mic. I got mine to respond to the distinct claps and not be confused by the noise caused by women's shoes forexample... The Radio control works by HOLDING the button for 1 sec not more. Test it with any LAMP.

Clapper plus

Sliding the switch down to the HOME (LO) position will put the Clapper Plus into the low sensitivity mode. This is helpful if there is a lot of external noise in the room. By placing the switch in the HOME (HI) position it will put the Clapper Plus into the high sensitivity mode for quiet clappers or if you are far away from the Clapper. In the AWAY mode appliances will turn on with the detection of any sound but will only stay on for 10 minutes.
