How to remove Jensen Radio to connect am antenna

FM ok, but AM channels no reception. I believe antenna is disconnected. How do I remove radio from dash to check if this is true? I have the two wire removal tools but can't get radio loose.

I did not get an answer from FixYa so I decided to try myself. I found that plastic-wood trim frame popped out easily, then realized that I needed to start from top as bottom was held tight by plastic fasterners. I then found 1/2 dozen screws that when loosened seemed to allow radio and heat/air panel to move easily. I decided to remove the lower section of heat/air/circulation controls..Once I could easily pull out the lower unit, I found that I could get a better grip on the radio unit. I found that one of the metal removal tools was had bent a metal clip (my mistake as I used too much pressure) Once I was able to properly insert the metal wire removal tools the radio slipped out easily. I found easy access to everything I was looking to inspect.

SOURCE: better fm reception

Is it just a single wire?

If so, purchase a cheap FM antena. It looks like a "T" when spread out (4' to 5'). That should help.

You can purchase an "amplified" antenna, but if your area reception is really bad (such as in a valley) the antenna would just amplify the noise as well. Look for web based radio in this case or if you have cable there are stations on it.

SOURCE: Bad reception w/ Panasonic RF-544

I solved the problem, but I did not "fix" the problem. Rather than rig an antenna to the old Panasonic RF-544 radio, I put it upstairs where it has good reception. I put the new Sony ICF-38 downstairs where it brings in the stations I listen to. The advertsizing claim for the Sony ICF-38 is that it has "Good Sound and High Sensitivity." I believe it does have "high sensitivity" because even in the basement it brings in my desired stations. (I am still curious to know if I could have rigged an antenna to the old Panasonic RF-544.) SOURCE: 2007 Toyota Sequoia Dashboard Access to Radio console FM Antenna

Pull off the 3 knobs for the heat controls. You will see a screw under the center knob. Remove it. Look to see if there are any screws near the vent grilles, remove them, if they are there. The whole center fascia then pulls out towards you. Remove the 4 bolts, and the radio is out. Easy.

SOURCE: antenna on radio broke

Radio Shack can get you an antenna, or a long wire (or wire coat hanger actually works too)

My Jensen MCD 5110 Marine radio acts like the antenna is unplugged. I can't figure out how to remove the radio from it's sleeve to re-plug the antenna jack (if that is the problem)

I don't know much about marine radios. I am a ham radio operator, but they are much the same, if you do not hear any static (with squelch control turned down), then I suspect you are correct about the antenna. It could be the antenna itself, or the coax line to it, or the connection point at the radio or at the antenna. You're stuck without being able to remove it. If you do and find nothing at the radio, you'll need to check the connection at the antenna etc. Good luck.

No FM radio reception,AM reception is okay.

You are going to have to pull the radio out and make sure that the antenna wire is plugged in securely to the back of the radio, this would give you the FM channels.

Am fm reception bad

FM reception is weak

What to do

• Extend the power cord as much as possible. The FM antenna is in the power cord.

• Move the power cord to adjust the FM antenna

• If you still have problems with FM reception, you may need an external antenna.

* Call Bose®Customer Service to request one.

The external antenna on your radio is a coax (round) design It needs an adaptor and an antenna which are cheap.

Easy to make, radio shack "F" connector 90 degrees or straight, to 300 ohm wire connections. Attatch a 300 ohm flat ribbon antenna cable to those two screws and plug into radio and see how your reception is. You will need to position the antenna wires to get best reception. I have hid them in back of paintings and so on.

Cheapest solution next to putting an extension cord on radio power cord.

Improve reception

HI there,

Well Yes you can improve the reception, please follow the below steps -

Improve FM Radio Reception -

1. If you don't have an antenna connected to your FM receiver, purchase a simple dipole antenna--a simple T-shape flexible wire-- and connect it to the FM antenna inputs on the receiver. Because FM signals are directional, you'll want to experiment with the positioning of the wire to find the best reception of the station you're trying to receive.

2. If you're still not getting a good signal, try an indoor amplified antenna, which you'll find at an electronics store. Don't buy one unless you get a guarantee that you can return it for full credit if it doesn't solve your reception problems.

3. If your signal is weak because you live a long way from the transmitter, install an outside antenna and mount it as high as is practical. If you're primarily interested in getting signals from one station or from a group of stations in one direction, get a directional antenna and point it toward the transmitters.

4. If you're using a portable FM radio where the only antenna is the power cord, stretch the cord as straight as possible and experiment with positioning again.

5. Temporarily switch to monaural mode to improve a weak signal on an FM receiver.

Improve AM Reception -

1. Gradually rotate the radio 360 degrees. Leave it in the position where it sounds best.

2. Reverse the AC plug if it isn't polarized. (If you can flip the plug over, then it's non-polarized.)

3. Plug the radio into a different AC outlet.

4. Move the radio closer to a window.

5. Experiment to learn if appliances and powered products in your home are causing interference: computer monitor, television, electric blanket, light dimmer, fluorescent light, hair dryer, air conditioner, smoke detector. If possible, turn off the offending item. Otherwise, move the radio to another room.

6. Upgrade to an external antenna if your receiver, tuner or radio has a place to connect one.

7. Buy a passive AM antenna that doesn't need to be connected to a radio or receiver.

Good Luck!!

Thanks

Poor radio reception with Jensen VM9512 in 2001 Nissan Altima

If you used the 2 plug nissan radio harness, there should be a blue wire on there which is the (power antenna) even if your car doesn't have a power antenna, this wire needs to be connect to power on the am/fm amplified ant which is used in many nissan cars.

if the jensen has a blue or a blue/white wire, connect it to one of those. if not, you can always connect it to the red ACC wire. that should solve your reception problem..

hope this helps

FM Reception with Jensen MSR3007

I have the exact same problem with the exact same stereo. I started by removing the in-line AM/FM/VHF Separator and connecting the antenna directly to the stereo. The static/popping/fade-out continued. Today I swapped to a new antenna, but it did not help. I swapped back to the original antenna and for a brief while, I had good reception. The I went to coil the excess antenna cable and the static/popping/fade-out resumed. I have narrowed it down to either the antenna connector coming out of the back of the stereo or an internal circuit. Either way, it does not look like a do-it-yourself fix.
