Question about LG DLEX7177 Dryer

Open Question

No steam in LG DLEX7177WM

The orange steam valve in my electric LG DLEX7177WM dribbles water, with no steam being produced. Can this be cleaned or replaced? It appears that water is dribbling from the lower aspect (7 o'clock position) of the valve with no steam actually emanating from the spout.

Make/Model: LG DLEX7177WM Steam Dryer, Ultra Capacity, Stainless Steel Drum, Quiet Operation. I'm fairly handy: is the Thermal Fuse generally easy to replace/access? Is there any online repair schema or manual that shows a visual of the area/part?

I was reviewing the Service Manual for this issue; there is a part K-410 for the Drum Assembly that shows the steam valve in question. How is this accessed to evaluate the parts for functionality? I don't think the Thermal fuse is the problem. It feels like something is obstructing steam/water flow through the steam valve.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

If you have already cleaned the vent then the problem is with the Thermal fuse. When the thermal fuse goes bad it cannot be reset and replacing it is recommended repair. It is located on the blower wheel housing inside the rear panel to the exhaust duct. You can test it for continuity before replacing. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Check the exhaust vent when running and be sure there is a good flow of air. You may have to clean the exhaust pipes all the way through. Dryers require a good flow of air for proper operation.

Drum doesn spin

If this product is new, you will need to take out the carriage bolts located in the back of the machine.

Carriage bolts are meant for the shipping process to prevent the drum from moving while in transit. Most manufacturers use between 2-4.

Check your product manual for details on the removal of the carriage bolts

Lg steam washer 2yo 3 yrs old . Refresh cycle produces bribble of water rather than steam and leaves clothes wet

The steamer unit may be overfilling. Check the water valve and see if it leaking. If it's ok, you will need to replace the steamer unit. Good luck

My vaporizer is barely putting out any steam...is there a way to clean this unit so that it will produce more steam? This is a Vicks 1.5 gal unit.

Is the water in your area soft? If so, add a few pinches of salt. Vaporizers boil the water by running electricity through it. If your water is too soft, no electricity and therefore no steam.

If you have hard water, and the unit must be cleaned, try soaking it in vinegar.

Water is leaking into the drip tray.

Clean the chamber below the white plastic valve, there is also a small discharge that leads from there into the drain tray clean that hole also.
Second the thermostat that controls the steam may be damaged or the cpu board, the contact the controls the steam may be damaged, i have seen both of those happen on some units.

Steam gauge is broken and iron will not produce steam

http://www.fixitclub.com/Parts_Components/Appliance_Controls.shtml click the link  Maintenance and repair tools you'll need to fix an electric iron include these:
  • Screwdrivers
  • Toothpicks or pipe cleaners
  • Sewing needle
  • Commercial electric iron cleaning solution or vinegar and water
  • Commercial soleplate cleaner or baking soda and water
  • Steel wool
  • Emery cloth
  • Metal cooking pot
you will need a speacial tool screw driver  also called as g5 screw driver to open it.available at local repair store. If the iron doesn't heat, make sure power is on to the outlet, check the electrical cord, and check the thermostat (see the Appliance Controls Fix-It Guide) and replace if necessary.
If the iron heats but steams improperly, inspect the soleplate and clean the vents (see below) and flush sediment out of the steam chamber (see below).
If the iron produces too much or too little heat, test the electrical cord . Also test and, if needed, adjust calibration of the thermostat (see the Appliance Controls Fix-It Guide).
If the iron does not spray properly, inspect and clean the nozzle (see below).
If the iron leaks or spits, clean the steam vents, nozzle, and tank.
If the iron sticks to fabric, clean or repair the soleplate. If the iron stains fabric, clean the soleplate, clean the tank with a commercial cleaner, and use distilled or filtered water.
