Go to start menu, right-click computer, click manage, on the left double click device manager, when the menu is populated look for other devices, you should see your printer. double-click it. a menu will pop up, click the tab labelled driver, then click update driver, click the option that lets windows search for solutions/drivers online. this will find and install the drivers automatically the way windows knows best, this should fix the printer not detected issue and the printer should be ready for use. that is given that you have the latest kodak software installed on your computer. for some reason there is a compatability issue with windows 7. its the kodak software not windows 7. im looking for a way to report the issue to kodak now, hopefully they can resolve this issue to eliminate all this trouble. took me all night to troubleshoot my printer only to find that kodak hadnt corrected the issue on their end. I LOVE WINDOWS 7 :) hope i helped

SOURCE: Printer not printing black ink

The problem you are all having is with the print head (The black tray that your ink cartridges sit in).

Most of the time a simple cleaning of this will correct the problem, if it does not then you will have to call Kodak support and they will send you out another print head.

But lets try and see if we can get your troubled one to work again by following these steps...

1 - turn printer on and open the lid as if you were going to change the printer ink cartridges.

2- when the ink tray moves into the center and stops, remove both the black and color cartrdiges from the print head.

3- To remove the print head simply place your left thumb inside the head all the way to the left facing up and pinch the upper left lip of the print head to release it, then pull the entire tray out with your other hand ( there is a release inside the tray above the sticker of a finger and bullseye to the far left in the upper left corner inside the tray)

4- With the tray now removed be sure to look at the bottom and you most likely will find a build-up of black ink... clean this off using DRY paper towel as much as you can.
I used rubbing alcohol but if you do this make SURE it is completely dry before reinstalling.

5- Once you have cleaned the print head reinstall it in reverse fashion than you removed it, if you installed it right you will hear a solid CLICK noise.

6- replace the ink cartridges you removed if they still have ink in them and then close the printer lid.

7- You may get a notice that there is a new printer head and or cartridges and it will want to align and or calibrate the printer...be sure to do this!

8- Once the printer is recalibrated hit the menu tab on the printer and choose " clean ink head"... Do a deep cleaning 2 times!

9- Now try to print something that contains something black like a text document. If it works you are all set, if it did not then you will need a new print head from kodak. simply explain that you did the above steps and it did not work so that you can avoid support trying to run you through all this. They will send you a new one in 2 days.

Hope this helps and good luck!

SOURCE: CanonPIXMA iP90 Color Ink Tank installation problem

yeah it sounds like a cartridge sensors are stuck or broken. i would say to replace the whole print unit. It will need a service support dealer to fit this part unless you can buy it and fir it yourself.

part number: QM2-2020-020

hope this helps

Not printing in color and black/white copy not clear, light in some places

Dear sir
good day
to fix up such problem
Clean the printhead, then print and
  1. Verify that inkjet paper is loaded in the paper trays.
  2. On your desktop, start the KODAK All-in-One Home Center, then select the Help [?] icon.
  3. From the Help menu, select Maintenance, then select Printhead Cleaning. The On/Off light flashes green during the cleaning procedure.
  4. When the On/Off light glows a steady green, press Photo + Copy simultaneously to print a demo sheet
and you have to Replace ink cartridges.
IMPORTANT: Make sure you are using KODAK Ink Cartridges. Your KODAK All-in-One Printer is designed to work with KODAK Ink Cartridges. Kodak is not responsible for the compatibility or performance of either non-Kodak brand ink cartridges or refilled ink cartridges. To purchase KODAK Ink Cartridges, go to KODAK Ink Cartridges & Photo Value Packs.
  1. Lift the printer access door, then remove the ink cartridges from the printhead.
  2. Insert new KODAK ink cartridges into the printhead, then press down firmly until you hear the cartridges click into position.
  3. Close the printer access door, then make the same print.

I just installed a new color cartridge in my 8650 Lexmark printer. The ink cartridge acts as if it is empty. Printer keeps telling me to align cargridge. Worked perfectly before the new ink installed. Not...

  1. On your computer, go to "Start," "Programs," "Lexmark Series." Click "Lexmark Control Program."
  2. Step 2 Select the "Cartridges" tab. Click "Change Cartridges." The Change Cartridges screen appears, displaying the animated instructions for installing or changing cartridges. When you have finished viewing the animation, click the "Finished" button.
  3. Step 3 Remove the tape covering the print head of the new print cartridge. Insert the new print cartridge as shown in the animation.
  4. Step 4 When the "Choose Cartridges" screen appears, select the cartridge(s) you installed in your printer from the list boxes. Click the appropriate box to reset the ink levels to full. Click "OK."
  5. Step 5 The Automatic Alignment screen appears. Click "Align" to align the print cartridges for best print quality. The printer prints a page with a bi-directional alignment pattern. On the printed test page, locate the number that comes closest to forming a straight line under the bi-directional alignment pattern. Enter that number as the bi-directional alignment setting in the Alignment Cartridge dialog box. Click "OK."

Not recognizing brand-new ink cartridges

Check if:

* There was a ink leak from previous cartridges? If so, use a cotton cloth and alcohol to clean the cartridge connectors in the printer itself, not the cartridge. It will be a dirty job, don't touch your face or clothes while doing this because someone will think you a re playing "commando". [water may work but can damage it]

* Did you update the drivers for the printer? Check for new device drivers at the kodak website.

* Also, check the plastic seal of the cartridge as completely removed.

I didn't want to mention this, but you are experiencing a common failure of this kind of printers. If nothing of above works, that means the flat cable connected to the cartridges inside the printer may be broken. A technician may need to look at it, but it will be kinda expensive. Sorry pdxredhead.

Kodak 5100 black will not print

In the UK call 0870 2430270

Tell them, because they will ask you to:

You have removed and reseated Black Cartridge

Carried Out Printhead Cleaning

Carried Out Calibration Test, and Black is missing

Did a Test Print (Press Photo & Copy together) and NO BLACK

and they will send a New Print Cradle overnight.

I also complained about wasting ink on multiple tests and got a new pack of ink as well.

Kodak 5300 color ink error

OK so i found some new information that should solve the problem. The version of firmware you originally had on the printer when you changed the ink cartridge was bad. There is a known issue that when you put in a new ink cartridge when the printer is in the error state "COLOR INK CARTRIDGE2.gif EMPTY. REPLACE COLOR INK CARTRIDGE" the unit writes that value to the new ink cartridge so you will continue to have that error. So to fix your problem First Remove the ink cartridges and download and install the new Firmware. Then sadly you have to go get another new ink tank and install it.

If you can get through to kodak you should request reimburstment of some sort like a free set of ink tanks.
