After changing the drum, toner and running around town for days trying to find a reliable place to get this printer repaired, I realized I was spending a lot more money than what the printer actually costs. the drum was over $100, toner was $80, and the printer is $250. I bought a new one, and I can now use the old one for parts.

Lift the top, remove the toner and open the access panel in the back, remove the printer tray. You should be able to see the full path the printer takes from start to finish. Rarely do you need to take anything else apart. If these areas are clear as the printer will attempt to clear jams when you start it up.

SOURCE: paper jam in brother MFC 240C
Usually small pieces of paper are jammed at the print head area. Lift up the scanner and see if you can find the paper at the print head parking area, clear the paper . If you can't find the paper, remove the scanner cables, then the scanner. You will see 2 screws at the rear and one near the USB connection. Another 3 screws towards the front will remove the front panel. Under the panel remove 4 screws and the two panel harnesses. The is a speaker harness which you must remember to attach back later (most people don't remember to put back). Lift up the top cover and you can see the whole engine. Clear any pieces of paper that might be there.
