SOURCE: HCH6150 heater runs for a bit and then just stops

Open it up and clean with an air can, most common cause is due to overheating.

SOURCE: My heater will kick on right away but after

The furnace could be shutting off on High Limit ...means your furnace is running too hot...check your filter and make sure return air vents are clean and clear....also it can be the Heat anticipator in your thermostat...which controls how many times your furnace cycles...basically your furnace should come on and off 5-6 times/hr ....need more info on your type of furnace and type of thermostat

SOURCE: My heater will kick on right away but after

If it is just the blower coming on:
Warm air furnaces have limit switches that have preset high limits, which shut off the burner when the heat exchanger high temp is reached. The low limit shuts of the blower when the heat exchanger cools down. Typically, there will be residual heat radiating from the burner chamber. Once that rises to the fan limit, it senses the heat and briefly turns the blower back on, distributing remaining heat.
If the burner is turning on:
It could be the t-stat itself, batteries, wiring at either end or even in between (hungry critters in the wall) drafty area. Possible limit switch. It is rare that the anticipator in the t-stat is a problem unless it is not set for the correct heating system. If it is an old school mercury no one would touch it unless heating appliance has been upgraded.
In any case, no quality technician should diagnose unless they are in front of the appliance. I would consult a licensed qualified technician. Hope this helps.

My GDM-12 is not cooling. when I turn the temp up it make a loud humming sound.

If the humming last 3-5 seconds then makes a faint click sound and stops humming for a minute or two. Then resumes the hum again it may be your compressor locked down. Stuck. Most likely it is just a bad start capacitor not kick starting the compressor. A $6 part.

My timer starts to make a loud noise after about two weeks. Is this normal or dangerous?

Timer is not identified.
Add a comment with clear description of timer.
If this is plug-in timer, then it should be fairly quiet but make some noise.
If this is in-wall timer, then it should be fairly quiet but make some noise.
If this is hardwire timer, then some of them are noisy.
If this is low voltage timer, it should make humming sound.

Why does my electric fireplace makes a humming noise when on?

sounds like you may have a ceased fan get someone to look for you, but an electrical hum that is louder than normal usually means that the fan or a moving part is trying to turn ot move but can't so make's like a hum noise so seek a service agent

Dryer won't start. has power, lights are on, when I push start I just get a loud humming sound.

Try to turn the tub by hand, if it will not move or is real hard to turn, your motor may be locked down. They usually make a humming sound when you try to start.

Heater found turned on but not operating. reset button was pushed out. i tied pushing the reet button back in but it would not stay. any ideas?

Sounds like the thermostat or nobstat is burnt up. I have the same prob. The contacts welded together on mine making it unable to turn off and burning up the thermostart. Looking for one but haven't found it.

Dryer does not start. Drum does not turn by hand. Only makes a sound when switch is turned on.

If it is a sound like a loud hum, the motor is either fried or something is jammed preventing the drum from turning. It could be something like a sock. You just have to open things up and look around carefully, especially around the outside of the drum.

If the noise is a more normal one but the drum is not turning, check that the belt is around the drum and not broken. Some drums are just fairly hard to turn by hand, partcularly if the belt is still around the drum.

Dryer makes a loud buzzing noise then quits working.

Sounds like the motor's done. That thing is probably the start-run switch. Not worth trying to fix on an old motor. I've found dryer motors to be fairly generic, you should be able to find a replacement. I use when I can't get parts locally.

Maytag electric dryer when i set dial to desired setting i here a humming sound prior to pushing start button it has never done this before also the clothes is VERY hot when i take it out model ...

it sounds like a shorted heater element, this would also cause the heat to stay on at 110 volts which would make the clothes very hot since the element doesn't completely shut down. if it is a loud hum it could be a stuck motor switch but in this case the dryer usually won't start.
