What is the path for the new belt? There is too much slack

The actual serpentine belt does not affect timing. There should be a belt path sticker label under the hood. There is a spring tension pulley which can have a fitting cast on it for a racket or breaker bar drive. This is used as a handle, but on some units a firm hand can press on this tension pulley to provide slack for the belt to slip off and be replaced. Check Youtube for videos on this subject.

First make sure that you have the right belt. If you have the right belt for your model then you have laced it wrong on the wheels. You will have to get a diagram of your belt path and redo it.

How to replace fan belt on a Mitsubishi pajero

  1. 1 Open the bonnet of the Pajero, and turn the bolt on the centre of the tension pulley with a socket wrench two full rotations. The tension pulley is the pulley directly behind the fan in the upper portion of the front of the engine.
  2. 2 Loosen the adjuster bolt on the tension pulley bracket. This bolt is on the left-hand side, situated in a long horizontal groove.
  3. 3 Slip the fan belt off of the engine. Draw a diagram of the path of the fan belt if the factory printed sticker diagram is no longer in the front of your engine on your Pajero.
  4. 4 Insert the new fan belt, winding it through the various pulleys according to your diagram. Put it on the tensioner pulley last.
  5. 5 Place the tension belt tool on the tension pulley bolt and pull until the slack in the belt is gone. When there is no slack, keep the pressure on the pulley, and tighten the adjuster bolt with the wrench. Tighten the lock bolt on the pulley.

How to replace drive belt

Unplug it from the electrical outlet.
Remove the back panel.
Look for the "idler-wheel" -- it takes-up the "slack" between the drive-motor and the rotating tumbler.
Loosen it, to put enough "slack" in the drive-belt that the drive-belt can be removed.
Take the belt to a dryer-service store, and get them to match it.
Connect the new belt to the drive-motor and the tumbler.
Adjust the "idler-wheel" to take-up the slack.
Replace the back-panel.
Add power.

How do i put back on a pulley belt on a 93 continental

Follow the path on the label you find about belt routing. There is 1 arm with a pulley and it is spring loaded. Some people take digital photos before removing the belt and use them as a guide.

There is a shape on the pulley arm to fit a 1/2 breaker bar or wrench. Press against the spring tension to get slack to slip off the belt. Then slip the new belt around the same path leaving the easiest accessible pulley for last. Then slip the belt over the last pulley and restore the tension.

How to tension the BMW x5 4.4i 2003 serpentine belt

All BMWs use a spring loaded tensioner. if you are having trouble with the tension then you need to find /use the correct belt path. If you are having trouble getting the belt on the tensioner, then use a section of the old belt to tug the new belt onto the Alt. pulley.

The tensioner that is on the BMW 4.4L M104 motor is found near the idle pulley and can be locked into the slacked position with a 1/4" thick bolt that has the threads ground off also the tensioner can be operated with a 3/8 drive ratchet. Apply tension to this pulley after getting the belt wrapped around the other pulleys and then fit it over the Alt. pulley last.

Belt slips on bolens riding mower has new belt

there is a belt which drives the deck/blades, and another belt which transfers power to the transmission to move the mower. you do not specify which belt, but as they both have a tensioner, you need to locate the pulley which removes the slack from the belt and replace it and the spring which provides the tension. you had to release this tension in order to install the belt so you know exactly where it is. oftentimes a close examination will reveal that the belt was not put back on correctly. if it was slipping already, you replaced the belt and it is no better then replace the tension spring. if it was working fine and the belt broke due to wear and now it is a new belt and slipping i would closely examine the path of the belt all the way around and make sure it is in right. often times there are small dowel shaped steel keepers and guides which are supposed to hold the belt in but the belt has inadvertently been routed around them which makes it slip.

Removing the Old Alternator Step1 Pull your Mazda into the garage or your work area. Turn the car off and let it sit for a while to cool. Step2 Begin by disconnecting the negative cable of the battery. Step3 Remove the serpentine belt from the pulley on the alternator. Do this by using a socket wrench to turn the serpentine automatic belt tensioner so that it allows slack in the belt. Then simply slip the belt off the alternator pulley. Step4 Locate and disconnect all the mounting bolts on the alternator, use a vehicle specific manual if you have any trouble. Step5 Disconnect all wires attached to the alternator then remove the alternator from the Mazda. Installing the New Alternator Step1 Slide the new alternator into place. Do not worry about the serpentine belt yet. Step2 Replace the bolts that held the previous alternator to secure the new one in place. Step3 Attach the wires to the new alternator the same way they were attached to the old one. Step4 Adjust the serpentine belt tensioner the same direction you did in Section One to put slack in the belt. Wrap the belt around the pulley of the new alternator and then remove the socket wrench from the automatic belt tensioner. Step5 Inspect the belt to be sure it is not snug and follows the path required in the pulley and belt configuration diagram. Step6 Hook the negative battery wire back to the negative terminal on the battery.
