I bought a RCA RTD317W home theater system and it works great but I would like to have it hooked up to my Xbox 360 as well. How may I go about doing this if its at all possible?

Connect your XBox360 to your television as normal. On the back of your TV you need to find the "Audio Out" plugs. Your receiver only has Stereo Input (Red&White cables) for input so your TV has to match that. I don;t know your TV model so I can't make sure you have those outputs, but they should be labeled on the back of your television. This will make everything that plays sound through your TV come through your stereo receiver when you put the receiver on the proper channel.
