Whenever you update your IOS software, you basically update all basic software information, and with it, your unlock gets deleted since it's written in basic software information.

It's not possible to maintain unlock when you're updating your IOS.

Iphone disabled

To unlock Iphone4, there are jail-breaking and unlocking by codes/remote unlocking. As far as i know, jail-breaking iphone's were not unlocked fully. If you update a new software they again get locked and you need to unlock the phone again. There are site which remote unlock iphone's successfully. i will suggest the website TheUnlockArena.com which is doing good service .....you can approach this website.

Hi i updated my iphone software with 3.1.1 and now its already updated it says to connect with itunes but the itune shows to insert a compatible sim.pls help

You had an unlocked iPhone, but updating the iPhone through iTunes to 3.1 or 3.1.1 or 3.1.2 will REMOVE any and all locks. Now the phone is locked again to the original carrier, AT&T. You need to have someone unlock the phone for you again, and once it is unlocked, never update from iTunes!
Good luck! EJ

Forgot my passcode

Bad News... you may have to Restore from iTunes. Here is some info from the users manual:
Passcode Lock By default, iPhone doesn’t require you to enter a passcode to unlock it. Set a passcode: Choose General > Passcode Lock and enter a 4-digit passcode, then enter the passcode again to verify it. iPhone then requires you to enter the passcode to unlock it or to display the passcode lock settings.
Turn passcode lock off: Choose General > Passcode Lock, enter your passcode, and tap Turn Passcode Off, then enter your passcode again. Change the passcode: Choose General > Passcode Lock, enter your passcode, and tap Change Passcode. Enter your passcode again, then enter and reenter your new passcode.
If you forget your passcode, you must restore the iPhone software. See “Updating and Restoring iPhone Software” on page 204.
Set how long before your passcode is required: Choose General > Passcode Lock and enter your passcode. Tap Require Passcode, then select how long iPhone can be idle before you need to enter a passcode to unlock it.

APPLE UPDATE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 1.1.1 firmware revision that bricked some unlocked iPhones a couple months ago had to do with buggy unlocking software. Versions of the 'AnySim' package prior to 1.1 corrupted the SecZone which would cause the phone to turn into an expensive iBrick when the 1.1.1 firmware was applied. I don't believe phones that were IPSF or hardware unlocked were affected. Regardless..if you have an unlocked iPhone in the US, definitely wait until the iPhone Dev teams figure it out. If you are like most people and have a locked or 'virgin' iPhone, you shouldn't have any problems with upgrading.
