I'm using a PNY 16GB card never used before
Look at your memory card. SD/SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

It's a lost cause. The A540 works with SD cards. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work in devices not designed for them. You need to stay with SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Yes. The IXUS 60 was designed to work with SD cards. Cards larger than 2GB are actually SDHC (the HC stands for High Capacity) and will not work in this camera.

trying removing it and unlocking it with the unlock button.. they some times lock them selves when you slide them in the slot.. go slow and straight.. this sometime fixes the problem... Good Luck.. T.
