Jeff, I have an Whirlpool Electric dryer Model #GEW9200LW1. The heat is not working eking. What should the thermistor read? Right now it's coming up 13.3 ohms.

what do u mean by thermistor? u mean moister sensor? thermal fuse?

ELECTRIC Dryer no heat or little heat, or shuts down to fast:

Check your venting and lint basket. Check blower for lint build up and blower wheel obstruction., test by trying to turn the wheel manually by hand (should be easy) May have to remove cabinet or front/back plate to get to it)

Next check the heating element itself with a meter for continuity OHMS CLOSED CIRCUIT. If not its defective or has a short if its grounding out? Which in turns causes blown fuses or thermostats or overheating.

Check dryer Terminal block prongs both outside prongs should give combined 220, and 110 each if u check 1 outside & 1 center (ground) prong. Also check house electrical outlet for full voltage. 220 because if u only get half or 110 volts you will be able to run the machine which uses only 110 to run motor but not the heater which uses a full 220,

Check the thermal cut off, the cycling and the hi limit thermostats.
For continuity or OHMS. If no ohms or resistance they need replacement.

Lastly check your moister sensor. ( located inside the dryer door usually) Especially if machine seems to shut down early and clothes are still wet.
Test with a meter at room temperature and it should show continuity.
A failed moisture sensor will affect the dryer run time in the automatic moisture sensing cycle but it will not affect the heating of the dryer or the timed cycle. Which are reflected by the thermostats.

No heat

make sure that the gas is turned on. if it is the next step is to check the fire chamber. it is a tube about 3in round. there is an igniter toward the front of the tube that when it calls for heat it glows bright red and then gas comes in the tube and it lights it up. if the igniter is not hot enough it will not light the gas. that means u need to replace the igniter.

I have a samsung dryer dv218ae it runs but no heat can you help me

Your heater elements may be bad and need replacement. Is it an electric dryer? If so electric dryers run a dual breaker, this means 120 volts on one side of the breaker runs the motor, the other side of the breakers runs the heater coils. Its possible the heater side of the breaker has tripped. Try turning off the breaker for 20 seconds or so then reset. 220 volt breakers can trip on one side and not the other.

My gas dryer is running but there is not any heat coming out to dry my clothes

Hello

When the dryer wont heat up and dry clothes it means that the thermostat is bad and needs replacement. This part is located on the blower wheel housing inside the duct, please get back to me if you have any other questions.

I have a gas kenmore elite dryer model # 110.73032102 and it wont heat. It turns on and runs air comes out but its cool air only

There is a sensor you need to replace. There is a online store called Parts Select and you part# is PS344761 and it sells for 39.17 + tax and they will ship it to your home. Now because this is a heat sensor and it really has nothing to do about gas, so that means you can replace it if you think you are up to it

Dryer not heating, but the heating element looks fine

If it is a 220V. dryer.. it needs 2 fuses. One runs the dryer motor and the other one runs the heating element. Check the main fuse box. Turn off main power before messing with any fuses. Look for 2 big fuses, probably in their own block. You can switch these 2 around and try the dryer again. If it does not come on, then the fuse is bad and needs replaced. If nothing is any different, then the element may need replaced.

Dryer does not heat up what should be done to fix it

There are 2 main causes for the dryer to not heat up. I assume it comes on and "runs", that is, the drum turns.. but no heat. If this is the case... check the fuses in the breaker box of the house. If it is a 220v. dryer it will need 2 fuses. Turn off main power to box before messing with any fuses. If you switch the 2 fuses around, see what the dryer does. If it fails to come on, then the fuse needs replaced and all should work. If there is no change, then the heating element might need replaced.

My Kenmore 90 series dryer's pilot light is out. What can I do? I have a Kenmore 90 series gas dryer and its not getting heat.  If I look at the igniter which is a carborundum igniter and I don't see...

Hi, You should first check the fuse. If the back comes off try this:
UNPLUG the dryer! Remove the rear panel of the dryer and locate the fuse. It is white and ¼” wide and 3” long. It is located on the blower housing. Remove the wires and check to see if it has continuity. If it does not, you need to replace it. If the rear panel does not come off, please get me model # and I can assist you further.
Please let me know if this helps you.

Thanks
Vic
