Question about RCA DRC8030N

Noise coming from DVD player and it will not work

The DVD portion of the RCA DRC8030N player will not open or close. I high pitch squeaking sound comes from the player. There is no disc in the player. When opening the case and looking at the DVD component, it looks like the chasis the laser is on will not go up and lock into place and it will not move the tray. Is there a replacement part for the DVD player? If so, what part number will I need and where to I go to get it.

Thanks for your help and support

This is due to the mechanics inside the DVD-RW being out of place.  If you open the DVD-RW (take both the top and bottom cover off and take the CD tray out) you will see the white plastic guide that guides 2 arms as the laser mechanism lowers and raises.  One of these 2 arms is out of place and need to be pushed back in.  Also, check for a crack in the black plastic on the arms....this usually causes the arms to slip out of place.  If a crack is found, simply super glue it tigether.

I can solve this problem if you are willing to have a computer dvd recorder sitting on top of the unit and not inside where the original dvd recorder sits. I personally unplugged the old dvd recorder and ran the cables out the back after bending up the case to make sure they cables don't get cut up. Then the new dvd recorder (any brand; just must be IDE set to Master) will sit on top of the unit.. I have a couple of units that I have done this with and they work great. I think they even record quicker than before.

Email me at bigsteve1962@excite.com with RCA DRC8030N in the subject line if you have further questions or would like to get rid of the unit. I may buy a non-working unit if the price is right but I will do my best to help you fix yours first.

Just found this suggestion, but it didn't help... So I think my player is up for free if you want to pay shipping.

Squeaking tv

If you have an AM radio/ other electronic device that is not well shielded close to some TV systems, it can also cause this type of sound in Stereos, turntables, computers etc... a lot of the time it is really easy to track down.
OR
You have a bad electrical ground in your apartment/House that needs to be checked quickly. Feedback is rarely a good thing!

P.S. you should always have your electronics all running off of the same ground via a surge protector of some type.

Hope this helps

Finalized disk won't play in other players

You might check your burner to see if it is working correctly. If you are using the same media and it worked before, perhaps the burner or the burning software is not working correctly.

TV making high pitch sound

Hi, There are usually 1 or 2 fans inside the TV's. Could be worn bearings, or fan blade interference. Sorry, without my electric ear working, I can only guess.

These units have flaky TV tuners. Try connecting the coax cable (the one with the cable television signal or antena) to the back of your TV first and from there take the output to the input of the DVR. By doing this, you will beusing your TVs TV tuner vs the DVR's flaky one.
