Question about Sharp 32C-530 32" TV

1 Answer

Menu Access My Sharp TV remote will happily scroll through channels, adjust the volume, switch it on and off and bring up teletext, but it steadfastly refuses to open the Menu screen. I can't access colour or contrast, tuning set-up or screen resolution (this one I desperately need to do as well). It's a good TV in really good condition and I don't want to have to ditch it because of this silly problem. When I push Menu on the remote, the receiving light on the TV flickers, so the signal is definitely being sent. Is there any other way into the Menu or an easy way to fix this? Thanks.

Re: Menu Access

Most sets have a menu button on the front, although it is sometimes hidden behind a small panel. Look for that & check your owner's manual. There may also be a master reset, which is usually a small hole that requires a pencil point to activate. These are always marked, but are very small. Some sets have them 7 some don't. You can also try unplugging the set for 1/2 hour, & then try again with the remote. If all this fails, you will most likely need a qualified service person to look into the problem, as there are no user serviceable parts inside, but lots of hazardous voltages.

On the front of the TV you should be able to press both channel up and down at the same time and it will give you access to the TV menu. Once in the menu use the channel and volume up and down buttons to navigate.

Good luck....

I have a 19'' older (approx 1999) Sharp tube TV that won't show the cable channels even though the cable is hooked up to the tv (the cable has been tested with another TV and works perfectly). There is no...

Even with the TV in the wrong mode, you should be able to see some channels lower than 12. Try that first and report here what you see. If you can get a few in that range (2-12) but nothing else, then the TV is in broadcast mode not cable. You will need to change it to cable mode to get the remaining channels. You should be able to locate a universal remote for $5 or so that will allow you to get into the menus.

No remote, channels locked on smart tv

On this set, the volume buttons are the same as the menu button on your remote. The two channel buttons work the same as the scrolling arrows on your remote. It will take some practice, but to turn on the menu, press both volume buttons at once. Then practice using the volume controls to scroll. Once you have the hang of it, you can simply use these four buttons the same way you would have used your remote. If you cannot figure it out on your own, come back here, let me know, and I will sit down and map it out completely for you.

Hope this helps in some small way!

No Remote - Need to access Menu

We had the same problem - this worked for us:

1. Unplug TV
2. Press Channel up and Volume up at same time, while plugging TV back in (two person job - it will pull up a service screen)
3. Press Channel up and Chanel down at same time. (Access to menu screen)
4. Use Volume up and Volume down to switch between menu options. We finally found the EZ set up screen.

Somehow in the process we muted the TV and are now working on getting the sound back. :)
Good luck to you!

Channel memory reset

Usually the menu can be accessed from the buttons on the console, sometimes by pressing a "menu" button but other times by pressing both Volume or Channel (+ AND -, UP AND DOWN) buttons simultaneously. Menu levels are usually selected with one or the other of Volume or Channel, and toggles/selections with whichever doesn't do the levels.
