Back Light ribbon broken

I broke the back light ribbon while replacing the lens. I soldered it but now lcd sometimes works and sometimes doesnot.
Do I need to replace entire LCD+Back Light assembly?
Is it possible to replace just the ribbon?

This needs to be replaced as a unit, these are very fragile items and great care must be taken.

SOURCE: buy and replace broken lcd screen

You may be able to fix it yourself if you can find a replacement screen, and you have some basic experience and are comfortable with electronics. Usually there's no soldering involved, with replacement merely requiring unplugging and reinserting the screens ribbon cable in it's connector. I usually search ebay for a broken camera with other problems that I can cannibalize. Here's some examples on LCD replacement:

The power button broke off on my acer tablet and I had it soterd back on and now it won't come on at all how do I get it to come on

Using standard solder can be brittle and the connectors can break quite easily , best solder to use is the softer type , it's possible one of the usually 4 connector types could have cracked and you're not getting a circuit , sometimes if a ribbon button setup is there it is better to replace the whole ribbon with power button than repairing solder however if directly connected to the PCB , sometime you can use a piece of metal or foil to create the circuit by touching one side solder points to the other , this may work but ideally replace the faulty button switch you could attempt soldering the switch to a permanent on position , however this could cause your device to loop on and off

Dvd player goes through the motions then says no disc why

hope you're using a good dvd... but if this is happening more often... just bring it back to the store or to the authorized service center if its still under warranty.... if not, try this simple steps...(1) try to insert a optical lens cleaner cd if available.... (sometimes a dirty optical lens is the cause of the problem...). once you cleaned the optical lens try to insert a good dvd... check if the problem is gone... if not (2) unplug the unit from the power supply socket. (3) remove the protective cover.. (4) plug the unit again to the power supply socket again. but please be careful not to touch the electrical circuit of the unit...(5) insert a good dvd... check if the dvd is spinning normally?... if not or too slow maybe the problem is the motor... (6) check if the optical lens is flashing a red light... if not, check the ribbon wire. check if its not broken... sometimes a broken ribbon wire may cause the problem. (7) if the the optical lens is flashing and the cd or dvd is spinning too fast than the normal speed, and the optical lens is moving back and port, and you hear a noisy sound like skipping. then the problem is the ptical lens... ty

When I turn the power on, green power light comes on, lens comes out half way but then freezes and green light goes off, camera unresponsive. battery is fully charged and I have taken it out and put it...

Hi.

This is a common problem , generally indicated as lens error. The problem is often caused by dirt or dust in the lens gears.

Possible reasons are :

  • Faulty lens mechanism or jammed lens (camera usually turns off by itself in this case)
  • Main board faulty.
  • Ribbon cable to main board broken or connector defective.
  • If there is no power at all it is the connector from batteries to main board, this is also a ribbon cable.

You can attempt tapping gently the back of the camera while turning the camera on. Sometimes this can help the lens out.

If that does not work, then the lens must be taken apart.

I summarized the problem in this article: Lens Error.

If the camera is less than one year old will be replaced by manufacturer.

If your warranty is expired you can get an estimate for repair from manufacturer, or from a third party like Advance Camera here :Advance Camera Repair you can book the repair online.

Regards.

No backlight - Sony DSC-H50

This is becasue the replacement part you purchased does not include the backlight. If you want the back light, you will have to remove it from your broken LCD (using a very low power soldering iron) and solder it on the new screen. Look at the new part and on the ribbon cable, there will be two metal like contacts. This is where you solder on the old backlight. You will also have to (carefully) remove the backlight housing from the old part and connect it to the new part. I got suckered just like you did, but I was able to make it work.

Broken nds ribbon cable

Yes, this can be fixed. You will need to replace the top LCD screen of the NDS, as the cable attaches directly to it. The speakers will need to be soldered to the new top LCD screen, as the top replacement screens usually do not come with speakers attached to it.

The lens is bad, needs to be replaced. Maybe purchase camera on ebay with broken LCD but good lens. Replacement can be time extensive. Will need #00 or #000 phillips screwdriver and solder iron. Remove 6 exterior screws+2 inside battery door. Take off front panel, remove top screw holding back panel; remove back panel. Remove 2 screws(left side top & bottom)from LCD, unplug LCD by flipping hinge up on plastic connector, pull ribbon. Remove 6 screws along outer edge of electronic board + 2 screws behind lens. Unsolder 2 battery connectors near top right side(do not melt or burn ribbon in between them). Disconnect ribbons at top right and on left edge of board. Flip board over to the left side carefully as it's still connected by 4 thin wires. Remove 3 outer screws holding lens, remove lens. Replace with good lens. Assemble camera in reverse order.
Good luck and be CAREFUL!

Casio Exilim EX-S500 Diaphragm Problem

Well, on mine the problem was inside the lens assembly. There is a ribbon wire that runs along the inside wall of the lens housing (that powers the diaphragm motor) and, as the lens is retractable and there is a zoom mechanism, it forms a loop, so it can extend and retract along with the housing. In my camera, this wire formed a crack right in the middle of that loop. The crack does not extend along the whole width yet, so in certain zoom positions there actually is an intermediate contact, so that the diaphragm actually works if you use the intermediate zoom, but does not work in max or min zoom positions.
As for fixing it, the only thing you can pretty much do is to replace the whole lens assembly. That wire is a branch of a bigger one that powers other motors in the lens, so you can't really remove it easily, and besides, no one carries it by itself. The new lens assembly is $380 from the parts supplier. So I just bought a broken camera off ebay for 9 bucks, with a functional lens. When it comes in, I'll just replace it. The replacement part is actually pretty straight forward. The lens assembly is held by 3 snap tabs, so just disconnect the wires for the CCD and the motors and remove the assembly.

Changed battery garmin ique no backlight

Most likely you broke one or both wire that supply power to the LCD. There are two ribbon cables to the LCD and two (black, white) wire. The ribbon cable cables supply data signal to the lcd and the smaller cable is the digitizer signal. The power wire (black, white) wires are soldered to the circuit board. And since these are LED lights there is a plus and minus and they have to be soldered correctly.
But before taking apart the IQUE 3600 did you try adjusting the brightness level?
