Massive sparking and noisy when switched on to heat

Hi,
There are 2 things that cause the massive sparking:
1. you placed inside the microwave oven a metal plate or one with silvery or golden drawings;
2. the mica sheet that covers the magnetron window is compromised (has holes, it is cracked) or it is covered with burnt (carbonised) food.
You have to carefully inspect the mica sheet and wash or replace it, if necessary. Hope that helps.
Regards,
Dan

My Microwave is arcing due to its demaged Mica sheet. Can I replace it with any other ordinary Mica sheet cut to its original size & fit in its place? Will it work? Or are there special Mica sheets...

Hello.

Yes you can buy mica sheets made for microwaves at appliance repair/parts shops.Scissors work well for this. A razor knife might be needed for notches etc. If so, several shallow cuts work better than trying for one deep one, as your not as apt to slip. I usually put the leftover material in a plastic bag and tape it to the bottom of the unit so I could find it the next time.

Hope this helps you.

My maytag electric dryer wont heat up

It is possible that your dryer isn't heating because its heating element is defective. Heating elements are irrepairable. If yours has ceased to function properly, you will have to replace it. Open your dryer's cabinet and locate the heating element so that you can test it.

Another possible cause for a dryer not heating up could be attributed to a faulty thermal fuse. Once a dryer's thermal fuse has blown, it is no longer of any use. If your dryer's fuse is blown, you will have to replace it. Open up your dryer's cabinet and locate its thermal fuse so that you can test it.

If any of your dryer's thermostats have become defective, they could be the reason that your dryer is not heating. Open up your dryer's cabinet and test each of your dryer's thermostats. If any are faulty, replace them.

A defective timer motor could also cause your dryer to not heat up. Test your dryer's timer motor. If it is no longer functioning as it should, replace either the entire motor assembly, or just its motor.

Magnetron tube and mica waveguide cover

Unfortunatey unless the unit is a high end oven by the time you pay for the parts and labor you could probably get a new one. Don't forget if you have to replace these parts already who knows what else is about to happen. I hope this helps you out.
