For 5 consecutive incorrect passcodes, you will be prompted that you have entered incorrect password 5 times and need to wait for couple of minutes. You really have to wait, after waiting you can enter the default code 12345 then it should be working fine then. If in case that this won't work, you can try to hard reset phone by entering *#7370# and you will need to select yes for restoring to factory defaults. Remember that it will delete the settings and data saved in the phone not on the memory card but it will still be advisable for you to have a back up of everything before doing so. To reset your Nokia n77 you can opt any of the following way
Normal reset- Dial *#7780# from your phone. It will ask for security code.(The default code is 12345, unless you have changed it). It will not delete any content but resets the phone to factory condition/setting.
Deep Reset- Dial *#7370# from your phone. It will again ask for the security code. Enter the security code(Default 12345) and format it. This action will delete all the content on your device.
Deep/Hard Reset- Turn off your Nokia phone. Press "*" + "3" + "Call/green button" from your phone's keypad and turn the phone on while these keys are pressed and wait until Nokia logo appears. It will again delete all the content on the device. This will override the security code step and format the device without asking the security code.
Important: Please make sure that your Nokia phone is fully charged and connected to the charger while reseting to avoid any problem. Hope this will help......cheers :)
the only way i found that would work will erase all of your text messages as well. go to your MENU, click SETTINGS, go to MORE, then SECURITY, enter your code (if you haven't set up a code, it will be the last four digits of your mobile number), choose DELETE/RESET, click DELETE MSSAGES, and choose YES. like i said, it will erase all of your text messages too but it deletes the recent contacts. hope it helps!
