No sound from internal speakers on HP Compaq 6710b

I have no sound from internal speakers on HP Compaq 6710b. If I plug in headset I get great sound. I check the volume on audio. Nothing is set on mute. Volume is turned up. Did all the trouble shooting from Device manager. I have gone to HP site and downloaded the drivers and reinstalled. Just wondering if there are other settings that I need to check. WinXP is operating sys.

No sound from headphone jack or internal speaker

First thing is to check the settings by using the speaker icon on the lower right corner of the screen. Then if they are ok and not muted, check the driver by using device manager. Since you did not post the operating system, I cannot be sure which way to tell you to access that.

No sound when i connect my dx2300 to external audio amplifier or other external sound system but internal speakers are o.k and working! why is this Mesh In nairobi Kenya

If the Internal speakers are working fine that means your Sound card and settings are fine. Just check the Cable, pin and the port you are plugging it into. Or else try connecting a headset on the sound card port to diagnose clearly.

Sound only works with headset. No longer comes

If the sound is working through another device then it seems that the internal speakers are bad. Because if the sound card was bad you wouldn't have any sound whatsoever, same goes for drivers. Probably just some bad speakers. If you have some other external speakers try plugging them into the headphone port and see if that helps.

It should be the third button to the right from the top byt the power button. Here is a link to a pdf that shows where everything is on your model.

DELL LAT INTERNAL + EXTERNAL NO SOUND

assuming headset is right connector, right? and they work elsewhere? that's the only reason headsets don't work, is that the jack is incompatible with the socket for speakers..
