Question about Amana Clothes Washer / Washing Machine Water Valve R0131578
I am having problems with my washer. I did a load of laundry and went to put it in dryer. My garage was flooded. For some reason, when filling the tub, it doesn't shut off where it should.( small load, med, or large). It keeps running. I have found some answers on FixYa. It could a couple of things. I need a diagram to show me where the lid switch is , and where the "tube" is at the outer tub.
The pressure switch sends the signal that tub is full and agitation should begin. As a rule though pressure switches are long lasting parts. Usually the problem is in the tube that goes from the switch to a bulb or box on the side of the outer drum. The hose can become disconnected, for example if machine was recently moved, or even a severely unbalanced load. Sometimes a tiny piece of lint can obstruct the hose from the bulb end.
Hope this helps.

Cylon, sounds like you need to replace the water inlet valve. It's not seating and weeping water. For series 10 the part number would be 40097701. Not that hard of a job. Catriver..post back.

is there any humming coming from under or front of your washer? whirlpool built machines for about 10 years now are "direct drive" ...the motor has a plastic coupling held in place by a rubberish plastic donut type of thing, its an inexpensive fix and there are videos on youtube on how its repaired..its under 10 bucks and usually cures any lack of agitation/ spinning ...i had a roper by whirlpool and once i replaced it from a parts machine i salvaged it was fine.. so check you motor coupler/ coupling and that maybe your answer, if not there is a set of wires and a cut off in back of the motor to prevent overheating, which may have tripped..also a good point to check.. good luck
