Everything is running as normal apart form the temperature being too hot. This happened once before - that's when I called out the engineer to clean everything. That was 4 weeks ago. The table is about 5 years old, I inherited it when I bought the business 18 months ago. The only other thing that I've noticed is that is runs very loud. It's a Rendell 9601-7M

If you are wanting to check and see if the compressor is operating and actually working, find the small refrigerant line coming off the compressor and follow it several inches and check its temperature. The normal temperature is over a 100 degrees and should feel very hot. Be careful the normal range is over 140 degrees on most model and may cause burns. If it is hot to the touch, that means the compressor is working. If it is not hot it means you have some problems with the compressor and probably need a new one.
If it is hot, the most common problem with a real hot compressor is a dirty condenser. If your models compressor hot line dissapears into the casing (walls of the refrigerator) then you cannot clean the condensor, but if it goes into a finned condensor with a fan, you need to check if it is dirty and just needs cleaning. This is a very common problem and periodic cleaning needs to be performed. Your refrigerator loses heat removed from the interior by rejecting the heat to the air passing over the condensor. If it can not breath due to dirt buildup, the refrigerator will over heat and lead to prematur breakdown. If the systems has operated long enough at a high temperature, the refrigeration oil in the refrigerant system can decompose and form sludge and block the capillary tubing. Once sludge start forming it is very difficult to flush the sludge out and a compressor change out typically can not fix the system because remaining sludge. In this case it is cheaper to buy a new refrigerator and remember to clean the condenser every year at least, more ofter if you have cats and dogs. They have a tendency to shed and the hair gets into the condenser. I had a customer once that used the air flow to the condenser as a vacuum cleaner because the dirt dissapeared near the air suction, until the condensor clogged up and the refrigerator stopped cooling, go figure.

In most cases this is normal because the factory places a hot copper or steel pipe that circulates hot Freon through the pipes to help cut down on sweat that forms around doors due to cold inside temperatures and warm moist temperatures outside. The pipe is called a Yoder Loop The problem is when this loop begins to become abnormally hot and this is usally caused by blocked airflow, defective fan motor or dirty condenser. That is a very bad sign, but before you unplug it pull the machine out from the wall and check to see if it feels hot back there as well. Then remove the lower cover and find the condersor fan motor. Its the only fan back there. I'd willing to bet that the fan is not running. The purpose of the the fan is draw air across the compressor and blow it through the condensor therefore lowering the temperature on both parts. When its not working/ running, the heat from the compressor and the condensor is pass onward to the machine and the machine then acts as a heat sink.
It is normal for a refrigerator to run 75 per cent of the time or more depending on the temperature of your room. Very hot weather and a lot of door opening can cause a refrigerator to run more. as long as everything is freezing and cooling, i wouldn't worry too much.
Here are several things you could check. first clean out the condenser coils underneath the refrigerator. check to see what your thermostat is set on. set it to 5 (normal). You can also slowly turn it down toward the lowest number and see if the compressor kicks off (this will let you know the thermostat is working). you can also check your door gaskets to make sure everything is sealing good around the doors.
This is pretty normal unless you are having problems below the refrigerator fan. Good air flow equals more efficient. What you feel is call a yoder loop and that is hot Freon coming from compressor and circulating around doors to prevent moisture. If it becomes hotter and temperatures begin to increase inside freezer and fresh food compartments is really when you should be concerned. If the pipes were not there you would beging to see moisture form around door seals and rust also. At this point I believe your refrigerator is OK. Just watch for changes in temperatures inside combined with the heat around door frame. Other model refrigerators use electric heat strips to do the same thing and they can be switched off at a switch called energy saver. Your model does not have that and hot days the hotter it seems. Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.
Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help. Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer. If this repeatedly happens with yours, you may can prevent it by taking a bare copper wire and wrap it around a fin near the heater and put the other end a few inches down the drain. The heat convection may prevent it from freezing.
your thermostat is bad, what it does it sense the temperature set buy the control setting, once it goes bad it does not recognize the temperature hot or coold and the unit keep running and freezeseverything. thermostat work like the therometer switch, when it reach certain temperature it cut off.
Fridge has either mullion heaters around door or most likely steel pipes just inside the skin of the perimeter of the door, this is to stop ice or condensation forming around the door seals, mainly the freezer, they are part of the condenser circuit ( hot part of the refrigeration system). It is normal for these to get hot, but in your case may be hotter than usual because of the constant running, the running may be caused by hot ambient temperatures, system being slightly short of refrigerant, faulty thermostat or in-efficient compressor. I suggest if temp is ok inside fridge dont worry too much, if you notice fridge starts loosing its capacity to refrigerate, have a refrigeration tech look at it.
