Question about Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64BIT Operating System Software OEM DVD

Windows 7 colors are wrong.

I have a new computer with Windows 7. Installed my (old) programs and the colors are all wrong. I can't see how to change anything except the desktop.

In that case, before you installed the programs the colors were wrong too?

  • Susan Jan 23, 2013

I'm not sure what you're asking. The colors looked good on everything that came with the computer, but when I installed my other (older) programs, the colors were gone. Everything is gray & black. AND I'm an idiot - I have Windows 8, not 7.

    1) You're not an idiot, and I did not ask for the system, I already know it 2) You did answer my question in the second sentence, the first is just strange, so, do you remember which program you installed and it went gray? Have you tried going ot Control Panel - Personalization and changing the theme? Maby your using High Contrast?

I really don't explain myself very well - my apologies. All the programs that came with the new computer look good. I installed CorelDraw and the colors are all gray, but the programs that came with the computers still look fine. I did play with the Personalization and it made the changes to the pre-installed programs, but did not change CorelDraw. I also installed PageMaker and had the same problem.

If you will try to uninstall the programs which corrupt the problem, will that work, I hope!

SOURCE: Old computer broke down. Copied old

Your best bet is to buy a newer version of Microsoft Works of Microsoft Office. Microsoft Office has a free plug in to read Works files.

However, if your goal is to spend no money, you might want to look at some of the free Microsoft Office alternatiove programs that can read Microsoft Works files.

One that can read Works files is LibreOffice at
http://www.libreoffice.org/download/

Or you can use an on-line converter like
https://secure.convert-doc.com/converters/wps-to-odt.html

to convert the WPS files to something else.

Have windows 7 on new computer, installed Adobe Pagemaker which is fine but want to turn files into PDF format, message say's no printer driver installed. Have tried to install but windows will not let...

the printer will need to be installed in compatibility mode....un-install the printer from control panel.
pain in the **** i know, but least you'll know from now on, how to install older programs & drivers in to windows 7....
if your installing from a disk, then put the disk in, then when the auto run box comes up, close it...
open computer instead from the start menu.
right click on the cd drive with the disk in, & select open.
drag & drop the contents of the disk on to your desktop....make a new folder to put it all in, if you need to.
then once it's copied across, right click on the install/application icon.
from the top of the menu click "check compatibility" if you dont see it,click off it & then try right clicking on it again untill you see it.
windows will scan & set itself to the right settings for that program.
then click try recommended settings.....followed by START PROGRAM.
if it all installs ok click next then click YES KEEP THESE SETTING FOR THIS PROGRAM NEXT TIME.
then go to the printers web site & update it with the latest software, thats if windows doesn't do it for you.....TIP:(white flag @ bottom right of screen)
do this with all older software.....windows 7 is **** hot when it comes to running older programs, im using a windows 98 program call photo express on mine...no problem.

GOOD LOOK MATE.

I have the print master gold deluxe software and I'm not able to use it with window 7. please help

All you need to do is download & install Windows XP Mode for Windows 7
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx
Once installed you will be able to run all your favorite old programs , if you run into any compatibility issues , right click on the .exe file & select "properties" , compatibility mode , & select the settings your program is known to work with .

After all this if you still can't run the program , try using " virtualbox " or " vmware virtual machine " & install a copy of windows xp as a virtual machine .

Having installed Serif Platinum on my old computer am now trying to install this on my new computer Windows 7 instead of XP and am getting an error message 230383 can anyone help please Kathleen

This probably popped up because Windows 7 can't handle alot of old programs without compactibility mode. Go to the installation .exe, click with your right mouse button on it, select properties, go to the tab "Compactibility", enable it, and select XP in the list.

Do I need Windows XP Mode?
Windows 7 has several built-in tools to help with program compatibility and Windows XP programs should be installed directly on Windows 7. Windows XP Mode runs many older Windows XP productivity programs and that are not natively compatible with Windows 7, thus helping realize cost savings and reduce possible operational downtime by extending the life of existing software. Visit the Windows 7 Compatibility Center to find software that works with Windows 7.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx

It's the best of both worlds: The new Windows XP Mode lets you run older Windows XP business software right on your Windows 7 desktop.

Designed primarily with small- and medium-sized businesses in mind, Windows XP Mode comes as a separate download and works only with Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate, and Enterprise. Windows XP Mode also requires virtualization software such as Windows Virtual PC. Both are available free on the Microsoft website.

Unique customer Registration for MYOB Plus 11 I used MYOB 7 for years, and it worked all the way up to Windows 7 - now it won't even start. Its time to leave. I have a copy of MYOB Plus 11 that seems to...

Or, just get a version of windows 7 (look for "Windows Anytime Upgrade" on your computer) that can run a virtual XP machine (Pro or Ultimate versions), then download and install the virtual PC hyper-viser kernal and the XP Mode virtual machine.

Next, install your old copy of MYOB 7 into the XP mode virtual machine, copy your data files, and it should work....

EXPLANATION OF "WHY": MYOB 7 was actually meant to run on windows 95/98 machines, and this wasn't a problem in XP, because it could run a program that would basically emulate all of the win95/95 API's, under which MYOB 7 could run. Starting with windows vista, those old API's and emulation programs were basically tossed. Running the program under a virtual XP machine will give your old programs, like MYOB 7, access to those old API's. BTW, once the program is installed, it should auto register with windows 7. After which it will run in the win 7 interface almost as if it were a native program (will take longer to load as it has to load XP OS too).

One note, any custom forms (invoices, etc) may not work after copying them to the new installation of MYOB. Change their file attributes from Read Only (uncheck that box from within the files' properties dialog, via windows file explorer).

Oh, you'll definitely want as much RAM in your computer as you can get in there. XP mode will take a minimum of 512MB, but it'll be slow unless you set it up for at least a gig of ram.

Trying to install software for x4270 into new machine with Windows 7. Tells me software not available in English. Was previously installed with XP in old machine with no problems. Any ideas?

Uninstall the existing Lexmark X4270 printer driver from your Windows 7 by going the Start menu ? Programs ? Lexmark 4200 Series ? Tools ? Uninstall. Reboot pc when prompted. When pc turns on, check if your Windows 7 is running on 32-bit or 64-bit operating system by going to the Start menu ? right-click on Computer ? click on Properties. Take note of the system type.
Download and install the X4270 driver for Windows 7 using the links below:

Follow the instructions in the software.
Thanks.

After upgrading to window 7, 2 printers, Lexmark z22 & hp deskjet 1120c will not allow print request out of the quew even tho the printers are listed as compatible by window 7

Not compatible or not working well with windows 7?

Maybe, It doesn't work because the driver/application you installed is for other versions of operating system. I am also using windows 7 like you so don't you worry, You can still use your old installer/driver from other versions of operating systems. Just remember that before installing any program in a windows 7 Operating System Computer, Use "troubleshoot compatibility". Right Click the Icon of your program installer/application first, then choose "troubleshoot compatibility". This will allow you to choose on what type operating system your program will run. Just reply back if it still doesn't work.:D rate and vote for me:)) julyallan01_52.jpg

I have recently bought a new computer and i installed the software, but the machine will not recognise the computer, can it be installed on computer with the new windows 7 or do i need an update??

Yes, it can be installed on Windows 7. Check the Futura support sight at www.Futura-support.com and look on the right hand side under downloads. There's a download listed for CE150/250/350, etc, that applies to XP 32 & 64 bit, Vista and Windows 7 32 & 64 bit. Follow the directions CAREFULLY! If this doesn't work for you, I've posted a set of instructions under CE100 solutions for running the CE100 software on Windows Vista/7 by installing a Virtual Machine software on Windows 7 that works regardless of the situation.

The update should work for you perfectly, however. Just make sure you uninstall the Futura software and reboot your machine BEFORE you do anything else and follow the instructions from the website carefully! Good luck!
