Question about Denon AVR-4802 Receiver

Denon AVR 4802 Receiver w/ Denon DVM 4800 DVD player - video fail

When I try and play a DVD I hear audio with no picture.  It has worked fine for several years.  Stopped working while my in-laws were using it (they don't recall pressing any unusual buttons).
The TV screen (Pioneer Elite) is completely blank except occasionally a display pops up that says "Out of Range" with a scale for Khz and Mhz.  Otherwise, the screen is blank.  Also, selecting "progressive scan" on the DVD player will cause the screen to display a random mix of color as what appears to be a still picture.
I've tried reconnecting all the cables to no avail.  The problem exists on any of the six discs in the carousel.

No the problem is at the plasma you will have to change the setting back to the scale range that will accept the signals from the Denon, see Plasma's manual for instructions

Page 10. The S-302 uses a proprietary D-Sub25 system cable to the DSW-S302 subwoofer. Don't know if or why it has more than 2 active conductors. The other speakers have removable cable ends so they might work just fine.

I'm buying a 1080p blue ray disk player. I have this receiver, will it support 1080p? Thanks: Denon avr-4802.

Hi - If you mean can you run/switch a 1080P video source through the receiver, then the answer is no. It can only switch through the video component connectors on the receiver (1080i) but it's not a problem you can just connect your new BR player directly into the TV (HDMI) and have the audio handled by the receiver. It's a common setup and you're not really losing anything. It's the setup I have.
Enjoy your new great BR experience!!

Problem with the Denon AVR-4802 7.1 Channels Receiver Denon avr-4802 h/p input issues. Ads by Google Custom Cable Installation www.consolidateddatacom.com/Network and Data Cabling for your business....

you need to find a headphones, put a drop of contact cleaner on headphone plug and plug it into receiver's h/p input several times. It cleanes internal h/p connector contacts and unit will work fine. If doen't help the receiver most likely has bad h/p connector soldering.

AVR-4800 - After 30 min audio goes out all channels just hum/buzz

if it is under warrantee then fix it.
sounds like a component is over heating, probably cost couple hundred (or more) to fix it, balance that with what you paid.

Changing the component input to composite or s-video output

It will not work. This unit can not convert video signal from component to s-video. Use the same type of connections on DVD and TV.

Connecting two mulitchannel devices into one receiver

I guess you could try y cable adapters for input on the Denon. Might get messy. Try radio shack and pick up 5 y cables for the speakers and 1 for the sub. Someone probably makes an audio switcher that handles that as well.

Selecting a Blu-Ray Player

If Denon blu ray has coaxial or optical out for audio, then your Denon receiver will process this signal and will give you 7.1 out sound.

No sound fom optical input

Do you have your TV hooked up, so you can see the AVR-4800 system menu on its screen (if not, see the manual). You need to go down to the digital input menu item where you associate each component with its input source, whether it is coax, optical 1, optical 2, ..., etc.

Audio problem when connecting to a PS3

It seems the Denon and PS3 don't play nice together on DTS. If you take off the DTS setting, then the PS3 will use DD and you'll get surround for games and movies.
