I just got a Zenith E44W-46LCD off of my brother-in-law and the speaker's are making a popping sound. The popping is constant but is not steady. It almost sounds like the speaker wires themselves are grounded out. I haven't taken the back off to look and see if there is a noticeable problem as of yet but will be before the weekend and will update this post. Just trying to see if anyone has had a similar problem.
The problem is the software in the television. Very commom problem in these sets. You can have a software update done and this will solve the problem. Normally an LG authorized technician has to perform the update. I don't think the software is available to consumers yet.

I read in the manual that you can turn the speakers off using the menu command when you connect up an external stereo system. You might want to check if this menu command inadvertantly was set to off. good luck
