It's the ignitor itself, if everythingelse is working or new then your just not getting enough spark. Also check your air lines as they do tend to get brittle and if your not getting enough air it won't light either.

Bought a new ignitor, but it doesn't ignite

Is fuel getting to the nozzle? With the top of the heater removed, use a flashlight to look for fuel spraying from the nozzle. If it isn't, check the fuel filter. Have you check you air pressure going to the fuel nozzle? The required pressure should be listed on the data plate of the heater. If you can't get the air pressure right, your air filter could be the problem. Let me know what you find if this doesn't fix it.

When I turn my reddy heater on model R115d(t) the fan cycle for approximatley 5 seconds then stops. The glow plug is getting red but no fuel. What could cause this?

Could be a dirty air filter. Fuel nozzle could be clogged. Fuel filter clogged, if it has one. Some don't. Could be a problem with the low pressure compressor that is attached to back of the fan motor.

My heater is a reddy heater 165,000btu. when i plug it up it will ignite, it will get a flame for about ten seconds and it shutdown. i recently replaced the ignitor because it broke and replace the fuel...

I would definitely stop burning off road diesel as it is dirty.Remove the top section of the heater and clean the fire eye with windex and a terry cloth rag, and run K1 kerosene it burns so much cleaner. Also make sure that fuel is not an issuecheck fuel filter, fuel lines and don't forget the screen in behind the nozzle.

The heeter stops after 10 sec evey time i have cleaned the air filliter and new flue

wendy425,

All Pro heaters and Reddy Heaters are the same.

This is a classic reddy heater problem. They use the bleed air to determine the pump pressure and ultimately the mix of the air/fuel. Once the filter gets dirty the relationship changes and the unit gets too much fuel. The solution is to get a new filter and the pressure gauge necessary to set the pressure after installing the new filter.

I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4124129-yearly_maintenance_reddy_heaters which explains the problem, where to get the parts and how to complete the repair.

Thanks for using FixYa and the generous rating.

Take air preassure from an air hose to turn the fan blades to loosen everything up. Time for afull service, like change the vanes in the pump, 3- filters fuel--2 air.

30'000 btu spark style will not lite

  1. clean the fuel filter
  2. clean the nozzle
  3. set the air pump pressure.
It should fire off, unless you have developed an air leak, worn nozzle, bad fan, or a motor that is not turning rpm's.

the fuel filter is dirty even if it dosent look like it,,they have a high particulate filter and they will stop up pretty quick if you have had a dirty fuel container or just a bad location that you purchased your fuel.

Clicks but wont fire

make sure the high voltage lead to the sparkplug isn't touching anything metal on its way to the plug. the clicking may be the high voltage discharging to a metal part, not the plug. those wires age during use.
