Question about Gateway 2520915 Keyboard

1 Answer

Mouse no longer cut and pasting.

My mouse no longer cuts and pastes. I am unable to cut a section of an e-mail and paste it to a new one. This first happened a while back when I inadvertently hit a series of keys in the top section, nearer right (not as far as the number pad). Somehow, when I mistakenly hit whatever series of keys again, it cleared up and I was able to cut and paste. Regretably it has happened again and I do not know what series of keys I hit, as I do not look at the key board. I used the keyboard keys for cutting and pasting and that did not work either. Should I just get a new keyboard?

Copy and paste for dummies

You're following instructions for an IBM-style machine and mouse. You need to be reading instructions for Apple. Often their version of a 'right-click' is to double-click, but it depends on the program. Read your manual about using your mouse, and always look for Apple-specific instructions for any program or application you are using.

How can I paste text using just keyboard (if paste icon does not work)?

Highlight the text you want by holding down the left mouse button and dragging across until you reach the end of your selection. Then press CTRL-C to copy the selection to the clipboard and leave the text in place, or CTRL-X to copy the selected text to the clipboard and remove it (cut it) from the document. Copying is handy if you want to duplicate the text somewhere, and cutting is for when you want to move it to some other place. Once you've copied or cut text to the clipboard, put the cursor where you want to paste it and press CTRL-V. This will insert the text from the clipboard at that location. The text is still on the clipboard, so you can move the cursor and CTRL-V to paste it in other places as well.

How do I cut, copy and paste text?

Using the Mouse Run the cursor on the screen over the text you want to copy while holding THE left click on the mouse, the text will be highlighted, the with the text you want to copy and paste highlighted right click the mouse and select "Copy" from the list, then when you want to insert the text right click the mouse in the window where you want the text and right click the mouse and select "Paste". If you are only facing the problem when doing a copy paste online then it could be an issue with the Internet browser and not the mouse.

Try changing the browser and it may help you to resolve this issue

Sounds like a bad button. Does it still feel and click like the left? Try another mouse to rule out software.
