Question about Kicker RS5 Car Component System

1 Answer

Wiring color coding For RS tweeter

Tweeter has two wires black and gray

Does
Gray = positive terminal "+"
&
Black = negative terminal "-"

Looked at owner manual and does not specify. I know generally black is ground/neg terminal

    Tweeter movement is so small I would not be able to determine if it moved in or out. Also both of the wires are solid in color.

Different manufacturers use different wiring. Usually the striped is positive.
An easy test is to take a battery (from a cordless drill) or a 9V, and touch the neg + pos to the correct terminal of the battery.
If the speaker pops OUT, it is wired correctly, if the speaker pops IN, reverse the wires.

I need to know what colors go to each speakers

From an aftermarket head unit the color code will most often conform to the CEA standardized colors.

12V+ Constant - Yellow
12V+ Switched - Red
Ground - Black (sometimes with spade terminal)
Remote - Blue/White (sometimes with slide terminal)
Left Front Speaker Positive - White
Left Front Speaker Negative - White/Black
Right Front Speaker Positive - Gray
Right Front Speaker Negative - Gray/Black
Left Rear Speaker Positive - Green
Left Rear Speaker Negative - Green/Black
Right Rear Speaker Positive - Violet
Right Rear Speaker Negative - Violet/Black

If you are using a vehicle specific wiring harness, simply splice the head unit harness and vehicle specific harnesses together, color-for-color. If you are not using a vehicle specific harness, you need to identify the wire colors used by the vehicle manufacturer. There's many "databases" that have such information, including:
