Problem for Dell Inspiron? 1501 PC Notebook

BATTERY CANNOT BE IDENTIFIED

Battery cannot be identified Every time I boot up my Dell Inspiron 1501 I get the following message:

"Warning: The Battery cannot be identified. This system will be unable to charge this battery."

I haven't changed anything. All of the equipment is original and came with the laptop new.

I've been keeping it plugged in with the AC adaptor and it continues to work fine,

Generally this is an indication that the battery has failed. The normal life span of a PC battery is 300 to 500 recharge cycles (Roughly 12 to 18 months) so the most likely answer is buy a new battery since this one is already out of warranty

Dageezer is wrong... The solution will be to update the bios version.
