Question about Air Tools & Compressors
Turn on, starts and sounds normal till 10 psi then go to a lower toned pump nois and wont fill past 10 psi on the tank gauge. i dont hear anything else when i turn off. seems to lose the 10 psi slowly.
can i fix it my self. the thing is only 2 years old and has only been used a few hours.
There is a one way checkvalve installed on the tank that prevents air from returning to the pump. Follow the discharge hose from the pump to the tank. You will see a brass valve that has a 1/4 inch hose attached that leads to the pressure switch where you will find the unloader valve. Check if the unloader valve is leaking and continues to leak when you turn off the pump. If the valve at the pressure switch is leaking ~ then the check valve at the tank is the source of the leak and needs to be cleaned to replaced. Some low volume compressors will never fill if the tank check valve is bad. Check this first and email me for more information. Good Luck
