It could be overheating. Do you hear fans running when it's on? If not, the CPU Fan may not be working. Also the Thermal Paste around the CPU and Heat Sink may have dried up or is not thick enough to keep the laptop cool, so it shuts down. You will have to take the laptop apart to fix either of the two things mentioned so far.
You might have a virus that is causing you to shut down. Try booting the system in Safe Mode and see if it stays on. Turn the laptop off, then turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFE MODE option. Select Safe Mode and let it boot up. Most times the virus can't operate in Safe Mode because it needs the Internet Connection. If it stays on you will need to run your virus scan.
1:Check out its cable connection. power outlet make sure everything is fine.
2:May be vid card Driver is corrupted or damaged Uninstall and then reinstall its vid card Driver from here...
3:turn off all screen saver /hibernate/standbyfunctions/unnecessary startup programs and applications
4:last thing you installed /downloaded before you first experience this issue uninstall it.
The built-in mic is actually always enabled. It only gets disabled once you connect an external mic just as you have done. Disabling it disables the mic capability which means that it also disables your external mic capability. If you have any problem with the built-in mic being on all the time you could try to go to the volume controller and mute it from there. The downside here is that you would actually need to unmute it each time you use your external mic.
Sounds like something to do with a power saving feature either from HP itself or from Windows. It could also be that for some reason your computer is overheating, which it than shuts itself off to protect the processor. I would try playing with your power saving features, and cleaning out the fans.
Please check for the exhaust,is it coming properly and check the bottom of the Notebook is it heating ?
If heating then this is the issue with the processor fan.
If the temprature is normal then check in BIOS(leave the system in BIOS mode for 8 minutes) if then also it is turning off surely this is the heating issue.
If above mentioned is not working please revert.
This is the classic signs of a Virus. You need to recover your data, format and re install your operating system. If your computer suddenly switches off when you move the computer arround then it could be your Power Jack that is faulty. Check diagnostics at: www.powerjackrepair.com
hi dianne... i've had that happent 2 me lots of times. it's quite easy to sort out actually . try this: double click on the speaker or sound icon (bottom right corner next to the time display).tick the block for Mic/Line in to mute the microphone on your laptop. this procedure will sort the squeal out. just remember though that if u use the mic on the laptop u should reverse the procedure. good luck..
Is it turning off by itself after being on for 20min... each time? I.e. is it consistently turning itself off after the same amount of run time? Check the bottom of the laptop... how hot is it? Might be an over-heating problem. Some freeware (MobileMeter) might help you monitor temperatures and see if it is a problem
Sounds like you are getting a supply line issue which is well known on these models. Pull the battery, Boot into BIOS, (F10 at the splash screen) And see if it will run for an extended period of time. Next if it does Boot into Safe mode and do the same..(This is F8).. Post back..
