PERSONAL SHREDDER WON'T WORK !

My 3 sheet strip personal paper shredder stopped working, when I unplugged it and had a good look at it. I spotted little glass particles so I'm guessing it was a fuse bulb
I don't know the brand name I haven't a clue as to size of the bulb or whereabouts on the machine it came from.
The only other information I have is a letter and number combination------ WMC303X------ can you help?

You would not have shredded a fuse unless you put one in there.

Many shredders have overloads. You may have overloaded it with stuff. Try it again after 20-30 minutes and see if it's cooled off.

When you try it, make sure to start it up in reverse to push out anything that may be hung up inside it. You may have to try forward and reverse a few times to get whatever is binding it out.

First unplug the shredder, remove all screws and pull apart. You bus fuse will be located to the power supoply (little black box that you plugin is attached to) remove the fuse and there will be numbers on it that identifies what it is.

when you pull the shredder apart, you fuse can be clearly seen. It is a little glass tube with two metal caps on the end. The caps have the fuse size and type printed on them

If your fuse is still in one piece, look inside the glass to see if the metal strip inside is broken or not. If it's broken it is bad and needs to be replace. You can get fuses at walmart or any hardware store. If the fuse is good, then it may be a bad motor or power supply

Motor runs but doesn't take in the paper

Most likely there is a stripped or cracked gear or a gear with broken gears inside. The only way to find out is by taking it apart and looking at it. There are about 3-5 gears inside and it would be easy enough to spot which one isn't turning. As always.. Safety first.. When taking apart the shredder, unplug it. When you want to test it, plug it back in and BE REAL CAREFUL because you have AC and will have moving gears, and shredder teeth.
If you don't want to go through the hassle then it might be time to buy a new shredder. Good luck.

When i put paper in it to shred it cuts then stops. ihave to physically hold the shred button for it to shred?

sounds like the paper in switch is either worn, or loose. Not much you can do unless you replace the switch. Look in the slot where you would place the paper and see if you see a small lever. If you do, watch it when you place paper in and get the shredder to work.
Does it happen on single sheets or multiple sheets. If just single, try multiple sheets and see if it works better.
good luck

Qualcast manuals

Unplug it and look inside the shredding blades, especially around the spot usually near the center, where there is a pressure button. When paper hits it, it starts shredding. Chances are some pieces of paper have jammed just over it stopping paper from hitting it and switching it on. I have had to use long tweezers to work the jammed bits out... Once clear it will work again. Also using shredder oil every 50 sheets through will help it cut easier , and jam less frequently. Do not put too many sheets through together in a bunch. No staples...

Some small bits of paper are stuck in blades

My advice is not to try to take it apart. Try putting a sheet folded in half where the paper is stuck (or an envelope) to see if you can clear it. Go FWD and REV repeatedly. If you can safely pick at the paper from the top or underneath, do so but shredder blades are sharp to BE CAREFUL.

Does t go in reverse?

Paper jam, what to do

Rotate the shredder into "Auto" and reverse to loosen any paper jam that is stopping the gears. Pull out any papers that are sticking out from the shredder feeder. If there is no progress then unplug the shredder and remove the shredder top from the bin. Turn it upside down and use tweezers to free any paper that is blocking the gear. Select the "Auto" option and feed paper into the center of the feeder tray if the shredder is only working in reverse mode. The sensor is located in the middle of the feeder tray and could be blocked by jammed paper. Use an index card to firmly unblock any paper that could be blocking the sensor.

Try removing the shredder and unscrew it from the base. Using a small screwdriver, advance the teeth one row at a time to remove unseen clots of paper around the wheel, then brush with graphite for lubrication.

I have an achiever heavy-duty crosscut shredder that I purchased in 2002. Since that time I have actually used the shredder around 5 times. The shredder turns on, shred for about 2-3 mins., then it stops....

does it finish the sheet of paper then shut off , or does it stop halfway thru the paper?

unplug the unit , open it up and see if theres staples or junk jammed in the cutting wheels/gears

there supose to turn off once its finished with the paper and turn back on when the next paper is inserted , theres a lil sensor that turns it on and a limit switch that turns it off

NoviTech Paper Shredder PS-045/B stops working after a while.

I have workrd on shredders for 17 years. you need to spray a light wait oil in to the paper shut. It is a catch 22 paper dust & paper builds up in them and the covers need to come off and be cleaned out or gears start stripping or braking.
good luck
