Question about Bosch 1199VSR 8.5 Amp 1/2 Inch Hammer Drill

Bosch VSR 1199 hammer drill keeps slipping in hammer mode

My 4 yr. old Bosch VSR 1199 hammer drill started slipping when I'm using it in hammer mode to drill 3/16" Tapcon holes in concrete. What part do you think I should look at when I disassemble it? I found the whole parts diagram online ( http://www.ereplacementparts.com/bosch-1199vsr-electric-drill-parts-c-128_1010_4165.html ) , and it looks like most parts are available. I am very handy at repairing my own tools. Just haven't had a chance to look at this one yet. Thanks, Marc P. Auburn,NY jakob0522@verizon.net

Does it only slip in hammer mode?

That is a loaded question, you should inspect all the parts but if it is slipping I would look at the gearing and drive assembly. Does the motor make a grinding sound that is louder in reverse or forward, if so the armature and the gear that it drives should be especially looked at. I would recommend cleaning all parts and a close inspection will show the problem. Let me know

Inside there is a little plastic shaft, where the selector hooks to. They have had problems over the years stripping. Replacement part is still plastic. Yay! You may need a bearing puller or find some way to get the clutch off the shaft. Lemme know. Please rate me

On my BOSCH CSB 470-RLE 470w electric drill the chuck is slipping i can hold it in my hand and it wont move

It is a spring loaded hammer drill. You need to push the chuck down just a bit for it to engage the clutch. If it is still slipping then either the clutch pieces (items 23 and 32) are worn or item 32 is spinning freely on the spindle shaft. Here is a parts diagram.

Dewalt cordless drill dc988- drill motor works intermitantly when trigger is pulled. Works a little better as it warms up. Im thinking vsr switch, brushes, or motor/armature. please help...

Test the brushes by catching it in a stalled condition when you have it triggered, then rotate it slightly. If it takes off suspect the brushes or a dead segment on the comutator.

If it doesn't respond to this, then consider the VSR trigger... open it and test by bypassing it when in stalled condition...

How do I replace the chuck on a bosch 1199vsr?

If there is a chuck bolt in the center (where the bit goes) remove it (left hand thread). The chuck is threaded onto the splindle(right hand thread). On some of those drills they have a small hole in the housing that lines up with a hole in the spindle. Put a pin punch in to lock the shaft so you can unthread the chuck. If you clamp a 3/8" allen wrench in the chuck it acts as a good handle. If there are no holes to lock the chuck, if you lay the drill on a bench and give the allen wrench a sharp blow with a rubber mallet it will unthread the chuck. If the chuck is damaged and will not hold an allen key you will have to cut the spindle off and replace the chuck and spindle.

Hope that helps

I have the same problem. 1199VSR hammer drill. The tool is 18 months old (out of warranty) and has barely been used - I think I used it for for two jobs - all together about 12 1/2" diameter holes. It...

Check the motor brushes for breakage, badly worn, or weak springs (heat damage). Keep track of brush wear pattern when removing and reinstall in the same orientation.

Hammer drill quit

If it is an 1199, forget it. Replace the brushes and do NOT use for hammering. It is a design problem. My unit was repaired 4 times and hammered about 5 holes each time before same failure.

Drill keeps on stopping and won't restart

Check the cord...sometimes if the brushes are not seated well or if there is a cut in the cord you will run into that problem....If it is not that then possibly you just have a faulty drill
