I am Having problem restoring my dell 2400

Well you may have a bad mother board or IDE port to which the HDD is connected. If the CD is connected to the same IDE channel as the HDD, move it to IDE1 which is the second IDE channel. If it then recognizes your CD, IDE0 is bad and you need to replace your board. Let me know how things are connected inside the computer.

HELP Computer frozen!!!

hi...there... let me ask you first..what kind OS that you using now for A105 XP or Vista? ' cause i think you have problem with your Operating System that seem your OS is broken and need to reinstall.
first you must buy OS Cd same like you using before and MS Office Cd to for work with office.

Isuggest you to use original cd both for cd OS and Office. about your A105 driver you can put latter (if you have) or download it with typing at search egine (ex:google) " driver Tosibha Satellite A105" and chose driver depen the OS that you install for your A105

Vista no longer recognizes my CD-ROM

"...manual driver update..." ... from the device's included driver disk? Or from a web-source? If web-source, how long ago and from where?
"...it found the hardware but was still unable to load driver software..." ... So Windows does recognize it then? Unable to load what .. the driver(s)?
"...Vista just isn't recognizeing my CD-ROM at all" ... ??? If I understand correctly, Windows "device manager" recognizes when its deleted, then refreshed, but Vista doesn't recognize it? By this do you mean it's icon does not show up in "My Computer"?

Lot of questions I know, but it's necessary to define the trouble in order to know which direction to go next.

ASSUMING IT'S RECOGNIZED BY YOUR WINDOWS VISTA OPERATING SYSTEM:

Here are a couple of very helpful and comprehensive software diagnostic tools for you to download at http://www.cdspeed2000.com/download.html. They are both FREEWARE and the same tools licensed to Nero for inclusion in their software products.

Installation: Simply extract/unzip the file to any chosen directory and run the executable (*.EXE).

1. "Nero DiscSpeed". Thoroughly tests speed and performance of your optical drives(s).
Download: http://www.cdspeed2000.com/files/NeroDiscSpeed_41140.zip
- Refer to the program's Help for guidance.
- User guide also available at http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=192563
- Here's a quick shorthand:
a. File > Options > Standard Tests > Choose which tests you wish to run (if unsure, use the default settings), then "OK"
b. Click "Start"

2. "Nero DriveSpeed". Adjust/control your drive's spin /up/down times and noise levels.
Download: http://www.cdspeed2000.com/files/NeroDriveSpeed_300.zip

ASSUMING IT'S NOT:

You need to get the latest and best driver package, then re-install. If you can provide the make/model/series of the drive, I can provide you with a reliable source to download.

Please report back, and in all likelyhood we'll get you some joy.

My cd rom drive is missing from my computer

HI SIR,
Its easy to solve this..

how to solve:
  • Make sure your CD ROM drive is properly connected to your computer.
  • Double click on your My Computer icon and click on "View system information" under the System Tasks area at the top left hand corner of the window.
  • Next, choose the Hardware tab and click on the Device Manager button.
  • look through the list for the DVD/CD ROM drives and click on the little plus sign ( + ) to expand it.
If one does, it means that your CD ROM device is connected and that it does have power. If nothing comes up, you may have some internal connection problems with the power and the ribbon cables. To check on this, shut down your computer, remove the two cables that go along with the connectors on the back of the drive and reset them firmly back in. Also, check on the ribbon cable and ensure that it is plugged tightly into the motherboard.

When you have done all of that, restart your computer and try the above directions again (in the device manager). If you still don't have anything listed, your CD ROM drive may be defective. Now, if you have tried all of this and nothing has worked yet, as I said before, it could be a software problem. So, let's go ahead and explore that.

In the device manager listing, right click on the item that appears in the list and choose Properties. Look in the Device Status area and see if there an error (could be error code 19, 31, 32, 39 or 41). If this is the case, you won't be able to use the original software for your CD ROM drive, but you could do a search online for your drive's vendor and see if you can download the latest driver software for your particular CD ROM drive. This along with a restart of your computer can solve the problem.

Another thing that may help is the system restore feature that Windows XP offers. Read about system restore here before you go any further. A system restore can place your computer back to a time when it was working properly. If you can remember the last time you know your CD ROM drive was working right, do a restore for that date. This may solve your "missing drive" issue. With any luck, it will.

thank you
vino

Cd rom not working

Let’s determine if your CD-ROM drive or your Operating System Software ( ie...Windows XP) is the problem.
You will need a bootable CD, you can use your “Dell Resource” CD or any other bootable CD disk.
Power on the laptop and tap the F12 key to get to the “Boot Selection Menu”. Insert the DELL “Resource CD” into the CD-ROM drive. Select “Boot from CD/DVD drive” from the selection menu.
If the laptop boots from the CD drive then you Operating System Software is the problem.

If the laptop won’t boot from CD then your CD-ROM is defective and needs to be replaced.

Thank You.

Trouble Reloading Start-Up Disk on Toshiba Satellite 1905-S301

Please try changing the HDD. If same thing happens the problem may be with ur O/s Cd or the Mother board
Please let me know this is used machine or New one. If new one please take a different O/S cd and install it.

If you are installing XP and your HDD is SATA then you need sata drivers.
