I did that and used up all my ink. You need to download firmware from kodak, it is on their site, mine still didn't work, so I have been sent a print head free of charge and now it works. We need to keep up to date with the firmware. Go to the chat help line on the kodak site

Double click Control Panel. Double click Printers and Faxes. Right click your printer and select properties. Now on General tab select "Printing Preferences".
Now select the basics tab and click "Advanced features" found on the right of the page. Here you will be able to adjust the amount of ink that is used to print a page. Side the bar to the right to increase/darken the print.
Try to use the Lexmark All-In-One Center Application on your computer to adjust the darkness of your prints. On your computer, click on Start > Prorgrams > Lexmark 2600 Series folder > select All-In-One Center. From the Copy tab, select "darken" copies. For printing, Normal or Best mode in the Print Setup properties before sending the print job to the printer for printing.
