There is no video on my kenwood ddx8017, why? Do i have to bypass the parking break wire? which one is it, the solid green, or red with black, or pink?

If you want to watch videos on your unit it is necessary to bypass the parking brake wire from the Kenwood unit. The parking brake wire is light green and the best possible way to bypass the unit is by installing a toggle switch. The toggle switch should be a two wire device. Connect one wire to ground and the other wire to the parking brake wire from the unit. This will allow you to switch the supply on the wire to ground when needed.
Also, in some older Kenwood units you could just as easily connect the parking brake wire to ground and be done with it but, it does not always work.

Kenwood KVT-617DVD Car DVD Player i get the sound but no picture.

its a safety feature, the dvd player can only work when your car is in park or if your park break is on, reason being is that the dvd player is grounded so that when your parked you can watch a movie safely, i know boring!!! so all you need to do is find where its grounded at the park break and re-ground the wire to a area that isn't a break( anywhere other then your break switch) and the dvd will play wen in motion. what i mean by this is that there is a little switch in your centre console where when your break is on the button is down allowing power to the wire, when the break is up it releases the power giving no juice to the wire allowing the dvd player to ground and not work. all you need is to make the wire able to work without being attached to anything other then a live ground. i hope that helped, as i had this problem and was so frustrated until i figured it out take care, matt

Putting kenwood kvt 617 dvd in rear of surburan how can i bypass parking brake so movies can play while driving

On bypasses you can either hook the parking brake wire straight to ground, if that does not work you can install a toggle switch between the parking brake wire and ground so you can mimic the parking brake on off.

Bypass for video on a kenwood ddx-512 car dvd player

On the wiring harness there is a green parking sensor wire (PRK SW) that you have to hook up. All you have to do is ground that anywhere on the chassis of the car then youll be set.

Ddx512 Kenwood Parking off problem

Indash DVD units are programmed not to allow DVD's to play while the car is in motion. The unit only allows DVD viewing when the car is parked and the parking brake activated.

To get around this, you simply splice the parking break wire from the radio to the -NEG wire of the radio.

If this doesnt help let me know.

E brake bypass for my kenwood DNX 5120EX

There should be an option on your head unit to turn safe mode off. If this fails, you need to trace the parking brake wire that runs from your head unit back to the parking brake switch and disconnect it. This is illegal in some contries and therefore not recommended.

I got a ?

Hi,

Normally, the emergency/parking brake has to be activated/engaged for the video player to operate.

By bypassing, you are simulating this condition even if in reality, the emergency/parking brake is not activated/engaged.

Solution > ground the video player's brake sensor wire rather than connect it to its intended connection point.

In some brands/model/versions of the video player, this would be light green (Pioneer, Clarion, JVC), green (Kenwood),

In some other rands/model/versions of the video player, there would be a bypass switch underneath a sticker, others would need a special adapter, still others have bypass option/feature in the menu/setup and some would require a toggle switch that would connect the dvd brake wire from positive to ground.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. A reminder pls, in some regions bypassing is not allowed.

Good luck and kind regards.
