I had a shower total replacement less than two years ago. Company out of business now. Shower grout has cracked bad at base and in corner all the way down. I need to re-grout. Problem is the gap in corner is deep and filling it grout does not seem what I should do. What should I fill the gap with?

Use a good quality bath and tub caulk applied to the deeper parts of the gap. Do not fill all the way out to the top of the gap with the caulk. When the caulk is dry, then apply the same color grout over the caulk.

SOURCE: shower/spout

The valve is installed upside down and needs to be reversed. There is a diverter in the valve that gives the spout priority. When the valve is upside down it gives the shower head priority. Thats why it runs without the diverter being activated. You will need to get in the wall from one side or the other. Cut the valve out and either flip the faucet Or change the direction of the diverter depending on the style of valve.

Good Luck, Phil

SOURCE: cold water suply filling up header tank in loft thru hot water suply on shower.

hi did you run a seperate cold water supply from the storage tank to the shower pump & also a seperate hot supply from the hot water cylinder, it sounds as though the cold water is crossing into the hot service & pushing its way up to the tank as its the only way it can go, sounds as though the cold water connection to the shower is not tank fed & possibly directly off the water main.?

SOURCE: I have frameless shower doors, the bottom sill

if the glass actually contacts the tile you can go to the homedepot or similar place and buy some glass silicone sealer and just run a nice bead of caulk along the line, make sure you get clear silicone and let it thooroughly dry before you get it wet

Don't use grout! Instead use silicone caulk that matches your grout color as close as possible. Never grout where tile meets at a 90 degree angle it will crack.

How do i seal a crack in the grout on the shower floor using wet area silicone? Is this suitable and what do we do?

problem usually happens when grout is not fully cured and sealed when water penetrates it so... remove old grout using grout removal tool (you can pick up from any where that sells flooring(tile) pick up some new sanded grout to match and sealer apply then seal 24 hrs cure time is req. before sealer wait 2 hrs then re-apply sealer 7_2_2014_6_45_58_am.jpg

Glass Shower Door

If you don't plan replacing the shower door, fill the holes with tile colour grout or other fillers you can buy from hardware stores. I am saying grout because if you have coloured tiles, the filled holes won't show prominently, otherwise fillers are ok.

Try using a small amount of thin set, Troll it in and be sure to leave a small gap. Let it dry and then use a high quality silicon caulk. Be sure to let that dry for at least 48 hours.

Good luck,

You need the base taking out and installing properly.

If must be on a firm surface with no movement up, down, backwards or forwards. The best way is to glue it with a bed of expanded polystyrene so it can't move. Then you need a tile to shower edge filler which overlaps the base. Fill the gap with silicone, between the base and shower and when it is dry, put the edging piece on bedded into silicone. Then tile over the upper part of the edging.

There are two ways that I would do it depending on the width of the ledge on top of shower base. If you have enouch room I would shim studs with strips of material thick enough to bring the surface out even with flange on shower base. Then I would put cement board(wonder board) on wall and over shower flange to set on top of shower base. Finish seams on wall board per manufacturers directions,Let seam filler dry then seal with thompsons water seal or equivalent sealer. Let that dry then tile on that grouting and sealing with quality caulk at joint between shower base and tile.
If ledge on shower base is not wide enough then I would place cement board directly to studs then use filler strips on face of shower base flange to bring two surfaces flush. Water seal let dry and tile again coming down over top of shower. Grout and caulk to finish. P.S. I would use a siliconized latex emulsifier to mix in with grout. It gives a better ware proof seal. Hope this helps you. Good luck and thank you.

Did you use plastic pipe? What about the shower head? Does it have a rubber o-ring in it? Pull the pipe out of the wall at the shower head and peek inside for the o-ring. If it is there, just snug up the pipe, do not over tighten. We were ready with crow bars in hand to destroy a brand new shower we just finished, because we thought we had w broken pipe, Then the owner says he torqued up the shower head as tight as he could and I read where it had to be just finger tight. One more place to check is the faucet itself, take off the trim ring and look in there for drips. It could be filling up the wall cavity and stay wet for days. I would take apart the drywall on the other side before busting up the tile again. Check it out.
