Need to replace the halogen bulb in a Secura 798HD table top oven. Everything else seems to be working. If someone does these kind of repairs it would even be better.

it is possible to do it your self but if the oven has some years on it the cover for the bulb may be stuck from old burnt grease
to add to your problems is it a special bulb only available from the spares department of a service center as the glass for the bulb has to heat resistant to above 350 C so any old bulb will not do
you could get a service technician out to do the job if you have one close by

Headlight bulb burnt out. Upon replacing bulb, found the plug had been hot and burnt the plastic mold around plug. The prong hole was also black. New replacement bulb also burnt out immediately.

Welcome to Fixya
This is a common problem with headlight bulb higher than the 60W bulb. You can actually replace the plug with a ceramic type so that it wont melt. This happens to my car. I am using halogen bulb and burned the plastic mold together with the bulb. Replacing the plastic mold with ceramic type mold fixed the problem.

My drivers side headlight has burnt out and I would like to know how to change it?

Open the hood and locate the offending light twist it approx. 1/4 turn and remove it from housing. If you have not already done so unplug it from harness and replace with same type bulb.

I was stopped by a cop saying I had no taillights, I wasn't able to get to the mechanic right away, the next night my daughter had a similar experience- besides the bulbs, what else would I need to check...

Before buying a bulb/bulbs I would check the fuse box located in the engine compartment. Check the fuse labled 'tail lights' and 'stop lamp'. The fuse can burn out due to a faulty failed bulb. If the fuse is open (technical language for burnt) then don't replace it until you replace the bulbs as a faulty bulb probably caused it to blow. When bulbs die, they sometimes short out On the other hand - I recently had one tail light go out ( I was lucky and caught it and replaced the bulb right away). A week later the other one was burnt out. I'd bought a two pack of bulbs, and had put it in the glove box so the bulb was handy and no tools are needed to replace it. Just open the trunk and remove the cover behind the light. The socket comes out with a counterclockwise twist. Mine were in pretty tight so be careful if you use pliers to grab the socket as they're plastic. Pull the bulb straight out and get the exact replacement. The bulb number is printed in very small print on the bulb itself or on the socket depending on bulb type. The autoparts store clerk will help you get the correct bulb much faster if you have the old bulb in your hand.

Changinh headlight with new

Is the problem a burnt bulb or broken headlight? The bulbs come out from under the hood...there is a black serrated knob to losen and pull out...the bulb should be resting within the piece.

Don't touch the bulb with your fingers....only the perimeter. Bulbs can be regular or special high intensity ones...at any parts store. Easy to do.

When trying to replace my cooker hood lights the new bulbs blow as soon as i put them in. Is there a fuse I could try replacing?

Wouldn't expect a fuse to be the problem with those symptoms.

You need to fish out the old bulbs (that is, the last ones you had that worked for any period of time) and read the ratings off them. You are particularly interested in a number followed by a capital V (so this might be 12V, 120V, 230V or any of a number of others). This is the supply voltage they are are compatible with.

You need to be sure you buy replacements which have the same voltage rating. If your replacements are rated for a lower voltage, they will expire in a blaze of glory the instant you apply power. If they're rated for a higher voltage, they'll glow very dim and yellow.

You have a little more leeway withthe wattage rating (a number followed by a W, eg 15W, 25W). It's safe to go lower (though less bright), and probably OK to go a tiny bit higher but if you go much further than the enclosure is designed for, you risk problems with overheating.

If you're certain you have the right bulbs but the problem hasn't gone away, you'll need to come back with more information. It might help to know: Brand & model of the hood in question, what rating (both V and W) the bulbs are, how long they last, what it looks like when they blow (bright white light, or brilliant blue flash), what it says on the rating plate of the hood, and what part of the world you live in (tells us what the power supply is like).

But my first guess would still be that the new bulbs are the wrong type.
