Try monitor switching first...fn + f4 usually but look at f key for one with square box icon on it this will be the key so press fn key and that key together.
press together once pc to ext monitor twice pc and ext monitor 3 times back to pc only.
also check vga card(graphics card) if graphics card faulty screen wont come on (some times only needs reseating properly.

No display on screen in Acer aspire 5830TG with GeForce 540

If it shows on an external monitor but not on the laptop screen, either the screen ribbon cable has come loose, the inverter/ccfl has died or the lcd screen has died.

If you boot your laptop to external monitor, then unplug the monitor - try shining a flashlight across the screen to see if you can see any dataicon1.png/screen info - if you can, then the inverter/ccfl has died. If not, either the screen has died or the cable has come loose

In my View sonic CRT monitor E71f 17",there is a curve appearing on the upper side of the screen and there is some space between the display and the screen, please help. thanks

It's time to responsibly recycle your old CRT monitor, and spend about $100 to buy a new 17" or 19" LCD screen, rather than spending any money at a qualified TV/video technician, trying to trouble-shoot the problem.

Black line down right side of screen

turn off laptop.
press and hold on the D then press Power button.
during the LCD BIST test check if the black line down right side of the screen is visible. if yes LCD needs to be replaced. if not connect your laptop to an external monitor check if the black line display appears to the ext monitor, if yes uninstall / reinstall video driver if fails replace video card or if it is built in replace motherboard.

if no ext monitor available then run PSA (press and hold Fn key then press Power button)

check if the black line is visible. Check also in BIOS is black line is visible, if yes then uninstall reinstall first the video driver if fails replace LCD.

My screen is 14 months old. When I turn on my computer...everything goes on, even the screen for a moment...then it blacks out and 30 to 45 minutes later it will pop on. I've checked the cord, both in and...

Re install your display drivers or try to borrow a screen and plug in your pc. if the problem is gone then you need a new one,but you are supose to have 3 year garentee on your monitor.

Monitor will not display

Your display app controls that, try updating drivers/ software for graphics card on laptop.
Or press the monitor button (usually Fn + something) till it comes right

Monitor flickering and rolling

Thanks for the git back: #1 I hooked up a second monitor (depressed fn+f5) and was able to view everything fine. No problem in any area. Ran Some security checks (malwarebytes, checked windows updates,Secunia PSI,and a virus scan. #2 I opened up the monitor and checked for possible loose connections. #3 brought up the graphics display and checked that 60 hrz was set and correct. #4 ran a backup of all my data from my other monitor, and I made the assumption that it was a bad monitor and I might save some money if I just bought a new laptop.Would like to here your comments. How to connect to external monitor?

You need to determine the fault first.
Can you determine exactly where the boom came from (the adapter or laptop)?
When you turn on your laptop does the LED lights indicating that there is power to the laptop and you can hear the hard drive spinning as well as the fan?
Do you know the power adapter is OK (you can test it with a multimeter)?
If the laptop is dead then the external monitor is of no use.

The laptop normally has a blue video output connector, usually on the back edge of the laptop where you can connect an external monitor or a data projector. When a monitor or projector is powered up first and then the laptop the display goes to the external video first. You can switch between the laptop screen and external video by clicking the blue Fn + F4 function keys.

When I turn Laptop on, after a little while say 10 minutes the screen turns black and loses almost all color but the rest of the computer works fine, any thoughts?

Hi,
I,d assume its an actual Monitor panel Fault. if the laptop is as the above specification. it,s quite old. therefore i,d suspect the tft ( screens ) Inverter Board is overheating, or The cfl ( laptop screen tube ) is on it,s way out. A new or replacement screen may solve this. But before you spend any money as screens can go from £80+ Or $160. You may have a motherboard component overheating, and shutting the display panels voltage down. unfortunately when these get to a certain age, you have to ask yourself, if it,s worth spending money on. When you can pick up a good second hand laptop cheap enough.

Hope this points you in the right direction.
