SET TURNS OFF IMMEDIATELY AFTER BEING TURNED ON

I have a 50" MITVS50703 purchased in 1998. It was working perfectly up until 2 weeks ago. Either from the remote or by pushing the POWER button on the set---the light goes green and then in 2 seconds goes out again and the set nenver turns on--no video, no sound.

This sounds like the convergence circuit going bad. it is very common on your model. it is some bad parts overheating. in time the tv will stop comming on. a cost of repair will range around 400.00. it is a good tv and worth a repair. or the main power supply board gone faulty and needs replacement.

I would start by unplugging the tv and waiting about 5 minutes for any capacitors to discharge. Then remove the back panel of the tv, and inspect the main circuit board. The first thing to be checked is the fuses. There will be atleast 1 or more fuses on the circuit boards, and hopefully 1 is blown. Is it DLP or rear projection?

If there is a bad circuit board, it will look different. It will have a brown color in spots. Anything worse than the obvious burnt board, bad bulb, or blown fuse is really meant for a professional repair person, they have equipment to help diagnose the electronic parts. I have has tv's fixed before, and it usually costs about $250 for something relatively simple. If I can be of any more assistance, please let me know. Please remember to rate your Experts, thanks.

Its the problem of main board as the components getting over heated and the tv shutts off.it has to be checked with a meter to replace the faulty component.

Try unplugging it for a bit. This happened to mine and that worked. It may also be the lamps

Lamp could still be going out they only last for 5,000 hrs some 8,000 playing hours.
Check the Lamp Fan if it stops running when Lamp turns on set will turn OFF.
But if you have never replaced Lamp Problem will be the Lamp Mats Has them for $99.00

Whole Screen Turns Blue in seconds....

This could be a problem with the Blue CRT it archs or overdrives intermittently. I would have a technician test the set and give you an estimate - if it's the CRT it's usually not worth repair- but it could be video or a screen voltage related problem. It's worth the estimate.

You should try to do an A/C reset on this unit. You will need to power the unit down, then unplug the unit from the wall, leave it for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. The other thing you might want to do is check your input source, if the input source is some sort of set top box, you might want to try the same with it, only leaving it for 1 whole minute. If these don't work, you probably will need to contact service.

Problem with tv turning off by itself.

I had a friend with the same problem. He had to clean the components and fans in the set. The accumulated dust had caused the set to run hot and a safety switch was the tv off. He purchased a few cans of compressed air and, as he blew the components and fans out, used a vacuum to capture the blown dust. Good luck.

Turning on problem with Panasonic Viva PT-43LC14

Sounds as you have a bad ballest. The ballest is the power supply that turns your lamp on. You can check your lamp by removing it and it should be clear and no broken pieces of glass. With the lamp removed install the cover and turn it on you should hear no noise and when the power light turns red you should see a LAMP red led blink every 5 seconds. If no noise then the lamp is bad. If you do hear noise you have a bad ballist. Hope this helps. Frank
