Question about Ovens
I have inherited a lovely efficient gleaming Ariston Pro 94 Oven, BUT all the knob control/temperature markers/markers have rubbed off with wear. How can I re mark them? is there data info available somewhere, or stickers to buy ? to re mark them?!
a 6ya Repairman can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: ARISTON OVEN
I have two sources that give correspondances between thermostat numbers and temperatures.
This is the first one:
Thermostat 1 30°C - 85°F Thermostat 2 60°C - 140°F Thermostat 3 90°C - 195°F Thermostat 4 120°C - 250°F Gas mark 1/2 Thermostat 5 150°C - 300°F Gas mark 2 Thermostat 6 180°C - 350°F Gas mark 4 Thermostat 7 210°C - 410°F Gas mark 6 Thermostat 8 240°C - 460°F Gas mark 8 Thermostat 9 270°C - 520°F Gas mark 10
The other one is a formula: t = 20 X (T + 3)
where t is the température in °C
T is the thermostat (1, 2 ... 12)
As you may discover, each of the methods give slightly different results. Hope this will help.

Temperature control with gas ovens is not an exact science. However the control should be better than you say.
Have you tried reducing the set temperature to compensate for the 'overshoot'. It may be worth a try.
