Question about Maytag Neptune Washing Machines

1 Answer

Mah 6700 is stopping after 1 minute with a reading of NF

Thank you in advance for any info you may be able to provide. I have a MAH-6700 Maytag Neptune front load washer. I am receiving a "NF" digital code on all cycles, regardless of the h2o temp. The spin cycle works great to drain the water that fills the basin prior to stopping. I have disconnected the h2o lines coming in to see if they were frozen, due to the cold weather. These both have great pressure. Any thoughts?

Did you check the screens in the watervalve when you removed the supply hoses? They can crud up over time and restrict the flow. Clean them in-place with a toothbrush and spray bottle. Reconnect hoses and test. While testing move temp switch from HOT to COLD to WARM settings and observe flow of water and temp of water in each position. Cold may flow a little faster than HOT but should be close to same flow rate. WARM however should have twice the flow rate of hot and cold temps seperately. Let me know what you find.

@ B.H. Countryman! Thanks for sharing your wisdom & for starting with the simplest solution. I recognize you were beginning at the top to systematically id the issue & solve it. Well done. One thing that was relevant in retrospect was the fact that I was traveling for 3 weeks & the machine sat idle. The filters or valves may have become stuck when they dried out. Time to do some laundry. Thanks again great sir.

SOURCE: Maytag Neptune MAH-1 won't stop filling with water

A couple things may be going on here... you may not want to hear, but the Neptune has a had many "consumer related problems".

If your complaint is "will not stop filling with water" I would access your inlet water-valve (typically blue with 2 black battery looking solenoids; where your water-lines connect directly), test for continuity and replace as necessary. Sometimes inlet-water valves also go bad where the complaint is: "no water comes in at all".

SOURCE: E3 code showing sometimes on Neptune MAH-3

“E3” code – Machine control is attempting to drive the motor but is not seeing any tach response. Visual Check shows motor is not moving. (Locked or Hall Sensor fault.)
Possible causes of ‘E3’ codes: 1. Spin drum stuck – Verify that the spinner moves freely to eliminate this cause. 2. Hall Sensor fails or is loose – When the Hall Sensor fails or becomes dislodged, the control doesn't recognize that the motor is spinning and shuts down. The result will likely be an “E3” code in the worst case, or “SUdS” if it is only getting a partial rpm reading. Check wire harness connector(s) to motor.
Hall Sensor – PCB that is located on the back of the motor that senses motor rpm. It is not a separate part, but rather an integral part of the motor.

SOURCE: On the Maytag Neptune MAH 5500, the timer is

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. It seems to be an issue with the Timer motor going bad and should be replaced to resolve this issue. Everything seems to be working fine as the washer is filling with water spinning etc so it is the Timer that should be replaced.
Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

SOURCE: Problem with the Maytag Neptune MAH5500B Front

Hi

Lr means locked rotor, this issue occurs due to locked rotors, you'll need to check the rotor wiring and windings. If the wiring is good and windings are not burnt then you'll need to replace your motor and motor control board. These are sold as one unit, it is a 3 phase motor and one of the phases is bad as a little power surge can damage the boards. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

sounds like the timer is not advancing is certain cycles? timers have contact points that can burn and seize up sticking close and not allowing the next cycle to move

LED is flashing nF. What does this indicate? Washer is a front load Maytag Neptune, mod# MAH 8700 AWW.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error NF means No Fill. The washer has tried to fill but was unsuccessful. NF indicates No Flow. There is something that is interrupting the inbound flow of water to the washer, either hot or cold. Sometimes this happens when water service in the area is interrupted, creating an air pocket that causing the water valve not to sense water.

Try running the diagnostic test by—
  • Press the delicates and heavy soil keys together for 3 seconds.
  • You are in the service mode.
  • Now, press wrinkle free key, cold water should start entering.
  • Then, press the cotton sturdy and hot water should flow.
  • To exit the test mode, either unplug the machine or press the delicate and heavy soil again for 3 seconds.

Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

NF - No Fill
It means that the Washer does not turn on water valves to fill washer with water.

Try the following steps and the problem should be solved.

1.Is the water turned on?

2.Check inlet hose screens for restriction.

3.Check wire connections in harness leading from machine control board to pressure switch.

4.Check water valve.

5.Check inputs and outputs at machine control board.

Good luck. And please do rate my answer.Thank you.
