Question about Mitsubishi WD-62525 62" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

I have a WD 62525 TV the picture wasn't coming on so I replaced some capaitors on the DM, FMT and PBd boards. The power works now but the picture is like a negative. What should I do first? I looked at the signal board it looks ok, do I need to change anything on it?I signed up for the 9.99 deal but can't get a reponse. I will pay the 19.99 if I can get my TV working properly. Thanks Roy

I reseated the lamp and fixed the foam in the back. No help. I took the power boards back out everything looks like it was ok. Was told by the person i bought the repair kit from that he thought it is the signal board. I sent him a picture of the picture and he said it was a negative he suggested replacing some capacitors on the signal board does this make sense?

Yes the signal board is famous for defective capacitors as are the other boards. Recently there have even been reports that even the small ( surface mounted) capacitors have been failing on a regular basis on the first generation DLPs

Blinking light with no picture or sound

If you have a green blinking light,
Most likely issue is with bad capacitors on the DM an FMT boards.

1) Look for bad 1000uf 16v caps on the dm board and the fmt board.

2) checked surface mount fuses (small white boxes) on DM and FMT board

Look carefully for other bad capacitors in the general area.

Start here and let me know the results.

Note, there is a lot of disassembly to get to these boards. Not a fun project.

its repairable but needs lots of caps soldered into the power, dm, and FMT boards

there are bad capacitors on the power supply.
look for bulged caps

they look like this
replace the big ones on the power supply to fix the lamp issue
there are more bad ones inside typically on the dm and fmt boards
they are 1000uf - replace those ones with 680uf @ 16v caps

let me know if i can be of further assistance

Green blinking light

Have you tried the reset button on the front of the tv, on the far left I believe? That probably won't solve your issue since this has been an infamous problem for Mitsubishi.

If the reset button doesn't work the most probable fix are the (12) 1000uF capacitors (4 on each board) on the Power Supply, FMT board and the DM board. There are several other replies from reputable repair people on this site for this problem on the wd-xx525 series.

You probably just need to replace the DM capacitors. You can get the V26 DM repair kit from www.tvrepairworld.com which has the capacitors and the Cd with instructions

No, this is not the lamp. More than likely you have failing capacitors on your Format (FMT) board, or your DM board.. these Mitsu's are RIDDLED with problems like this - I have one here that the customer did not want to repair, and I cannot justify fixing it for myself even...they have alot of problems with the FMT boards, DM boards, PWB boards, and the actual color wheel itself.. Mitsubishi makes a great set, but I have come to believe the X2525 line and the newer revisions are just as bad...

DM PCB

The DM pcb is located on the left side of the back - you will see a little fan it is under it - it will be the middle board - on the left is the signal anf the right is the FMT - on your model you will need to do the caps on the FMT pcb also caps c8f19 - c8f21 - c8f22 - cf827
replace all of them with part # 181P734030 (680 uFD, 16V, 105C). or equal - also check the power pcb the one toward the front of the dm (power cord is on it) if you see any caps with the top pushed out (not flat) replace them.

Thanks
Scott

The DM board wont cause that symptom. The DM only directs power that is recieved from the PWB to the ballast fans and etc. That sounds like a problem with the FMT. capacitors 1000uf @16volts numbers C8F21, C8F22, C8F19, and C8F27. those will cause distortions in the video on the V26 chassis. Let me know if you need more info
