SOURCE: 93 Grand Cherokee 4.0 trouble starting in cold weather

Welcome to the forum. Your question has to many variables. Cold weather out here in Cen Cal this time of year is mid 40s. Is the problem when the vehicle is cold as in ovrernight but starts ok when it is warm? Does it crank OK but seem like it's not getting fuel? If you hold the throttle slightly open, does it start OK?

SOURCE: Will turn over but not start in cold weather

could just be the oil if you are in a really cold environment (near or below 0), make sure to use 5w-30 versus 10w-30 which is suited for warmer climates..

My 2003 Audi V6 turbo deisel has difficulty starting mostly in cold weather. Once it gets going it starts easily but it's a drain on the battery so I carry a re-chargable battery with me.

Try turning key to on position for 15-20 seconds before attempting to start that should give the glow plugs enough time to warm up there for making it easier to start

When it is below frezzing my Isuzu makes a clicking sound instead of starkting but in warm weather it starts all the time ?

more then likely the battery is going bad. in cold weather it takes a good (cca) cold cranking amps, battery to turn engine over. but in warm weather the engine is not as cold and therefore needs less cranking amps. thats why you hear clicking when trying to start car in cold. it is the solinoid clicking and not enough power for starter to turn it over.

1996 F150. Got a new battery, tank is full of gas. Would not even turn over until I got a new battery Now it turns over but no starting. Started first time every time until the weather dipped down below...

might be a bad crank sensor-they go bad all the time on Fords (4.6, right?)-unplug it, and plug it back in again, it might start right up, worth a try.

My 2009 mini cooper shows a yellow car on what looks like a hoist and when I check the problem on the computer it says battery drain. Also my clock stops running. It has been very cold here minus 25...

It probably just needs charging. Cold weather can take a toll on older batteries, especially when they are left sitting for long periods of time. Starting the engine every day is ok, but the short run time isn't replacing the energy it took to start it.

I parked the 2005 STS for few months. It won't start now even with a jumping cable. What can I do to fix the battery that has drained ?

charge the battery with a charger. newer vehicles with security systems will drain batteries when the vehicle has not been used for extended periods of time especially in cold weather.

When the weather dropped the car stopped starting. it would run the battery flat if continuosley trying to start. if however left for15-25 mins starts first attempt

It may have something to do with the cold draining your battery. Cold weather brings out the worst of any minor faults the battery may have, that won't arise in warm weather, so trying to start will take what little juice is left, give your alternator a slight nudge and then give you just enough power to start up. If you do have to replace a battery, it will be during the winter. Hope this helps, if only a little ;)

Battery drained dead in ocld weather

Could be both batteries went bad.
1) I would take battery back to where you bought it and have them test.
2) Check, or have someone check, that battery power is not being used when the key is off and the car is not being used in any way. There will be a slight trickle of power use, but nothing that would wear the battery down in less than 3-4 weeks.
