It appears that your battery is worn out. They will charge, but miminally. If it is a nickle cad battery, and relatively new, you may have a memory problem. Try draining the battery completely several times and recharging each time. Be sure the battery is completely dead before recharging.

Makita hr3851 drills but does not hammer

The usual point of failure for your problem is the con-rod (PN 312956-8) from the crank eccentric (PN321726-4) to the piston (PN321370-7). The good news is it's right under the large, black cap on top of the motor so it's easy to check. Just screw the cap off and check the con-rod. Keep the tool upright so none of the lubricant runs out of the crank case. It's usually thick enough to stay in but can be runny if warm enough. If that's OK you will have to go further into the tool to check the free movement of the impact bolt (PN323718-9) and striker (PN321369-2).

Makita HP1640 hammer drill dual mode - 2 hours

Exchanged Makita HP1640 hammer drill for a new one. The 2nd drill did the same thing in under an hour!! Will return for refund. Instructions say the Forward/Reverse switch must be in a full up or down position for the Hammer/Rotary switch to move; well, it is and the Hammer/Rotary switch still stops at a 1/2 way point between modes. Although I can still use the drill, instruction warnings say not to because it may potentially burn out the motor. I'll have to go with a different brand this 3rd time around. It seems to be a design flaw.

My 24 volt batteries stopped holding there charge

Is you battery charger producing the correct voltage? I would check that first, because that has happened to me. Other than that, battery replacement may be necessary. It is important to let them properly discharge and charge them as your manual says, as batterys will fail if not properly cared for.

I have a dewalt DW005 24V hammer/plus drill i am having problems charging batteries. the L.E.D lights flashes as though its charging but it has stopped showing continuous light as it should do when fully...

The battery has probably lost it's ability to receive a charge. Is it old? Check the output of charger, should be around 26 volts DC at the output jack.

The charger you need is Makita charger DC1801. If you do a search for "DC1801" on ebay you will find heaps of those chargers on there!

The DC1801 charger will charge the 6347D 18v 2Ah Makita NiCad pod-style battery.
