I need to know how to open the top of my glass top stove to replace a bad burner. Can't figure out how to lift it up or figure out how to get in there to put a new burner. Kenmore glass top stove

1) Unplug unit 2) Remove back plate covering controls on back of oven 3) Notice 2 brackets, 1 on each end holding 2 screws-remove the screws 4) On front remove 3 screws underneath front ledge directly above where oven door closes 5) lift top up about an inch, and pull forward towards front of oven 6) You can now lift it to service - beware wires are still connected - dont pull too far forward and up

if your sure you have it wired correctly then replace the switch but first id double check the wiring on the switch

check the burner socket, it is likely that contact is being lost where the burner connects to the hardwired portion of the system (the socket). It is not unusual for the socket to "burn up" when there is a poor connection to the burner resulting in the burner being replaced and the new burner not working or working intermittently.

You can replace the failed component which is either the burner or the switch that controls the burner. A voltage test would have to be done to determine which compoonent has failed. Generaally it is worthwhile to repair the range.
